An absolutely wonderful experience at the Riu. A ‘pinch me, is this real?’setting, incredible staff, huge clean rooms and such great vibes. We are an active family so made use of the gym and daily fitness classes. I’d like to especially mention Sanjay from Nepal who took our ‘aero yoga’ class (a must try!) as well as Sanjeep who had us sweating in the full body session. The staff were all so attentive and made sure we always had an alcohol free Piña colada or iced coffee to hand. All the themed DJ party nights are fab, especially white night where we had a great boogie on the dance floor. Compared to other hotels this one is a more reasonable price but it still feels like bliss and luxury! I think TUI had the best deal when we booked compared to BA or Emirates (this may have changed). I am actually still here still right now writing this review under a coconut tree. If you are thinking of booking… Do it!!! Read less

Going to the Maldives has always been a bucket list destination for me and my partner. So as this was the first time we've ever been we decided to go with an over water villa and really push the boat out. We had a domestic flight to catch when arriving at Male and then the speedboat from Kudahuvadhoo. It was all really smooth and we were met by a RIU rep who looked after us. Arriving at the hotel was just an absolutely amazing experience. Not had anything like this before. The hotel and island is a paradise. The warm turquoise sea and soft white sand it just something else. Lots of fish swim around you the whole time. The over water villa was incredible and we had fantastic sunset views right from our balcony or the sea if we went in via our steps. We loved coming back to our room and seeing another new towel animal the cleaner had created! The food and drinks were great. We did love the sports bar as we used that to get out of the heat and had lovely lattes and sandwiches from there. All the staff were so friendly and couldn't do enough for you. I won't name drop them, but all the staff were brilliant and a credit to RIU. The water sports were good fun. We gave them a go a few times. Evening live music was excellent too. It was such a shame to finally leave. We did upgrade to the sea plane to make the coming home a bit more fun, which was well worth it. All in all, this place is fantastic! Read less

We stayed at Riu Atoll (not the Palace side) in one of the Junior Overwater suites with the standard all-inclusive package from Jan 4-10, 2025. Overall our stay was very good. The housekeeping and service were excellent throughout the resort. As a frequent traveler, there were a few things we thought they could improve to make the experience even better. The top thing would be to provide sunscreen at the pools and beach area! The place is literally at the equator and the sun is INTENSE! We immediately noticed when we arrived that almost everyone we saw was sunburned, and most beach resorts we've ever stayed at offer sunscreen at the pool and beach areas since it's become more common for resorts to prefer that you use whatever sunscreen their local government has required for their reef protection. We ended up spending almost $60 on a bottle of spray and a tube of lotion in the gift shop. The second thing they could do is provide more options for mixers in the mini bars in the rooms. Our room came with vodka, gin, tequila and scotch taps, but very little options to mix them with in the fridge and there wasn't a way to purchase juice or other mixers to take back to your room to make your own cocktails. It would also be great if they offered a bit more drink options at the included buffet main restaurant, and if they offered snacks at the pool (again another thing most beach resorts offer). The pool bar only does drinks and nothing else. The staff we interacted with were all very friendly and on top of their service! OH...ANOTHER BIG TIP...THERE IS NO WAY TO GET MONEY AT THE RESORT!!! So, if you want to leave an extra tip for any of the staff, make sure to bring cash! Read less
