Adaaran Select Meedhupparu

We stayed here for 2 weeks at the start of December and wow; what an amazing holiday. We travelled with 1 year old twins and in-laws. We had seaplane transfers with TMA. As soon as you arrive at Male they check you in and then take you by minibus to the seaplane lounge. It's a really comfortable waiting area with showers and toiletries (no towels though), snacks, hot and cold drinks, comfy chairs and lovely views. The seaplane is an incredible experience in itself with stunning views. We stayed in a deluxe family beach villa. This had 2 rooms both with separate bathrooms and just had adjoining doors in the middle. So essentially 2 separate rooms with interconnecting access should you want it. The rooms were typically Maldivian. Fairly basic but clean and comfortable. The bathroom was large and open aired. Pretty special showering outside with fruit bats flying over. The mini bar was replenished everyday with soft drinks, beer and cartons of whole milk. The toiletries provided in the bathroom were good quality. We were very lucky with the weather during our stay. My husband had been tracking weather apps and keeping an eye on it. We had 10 days of glorious 32 degrees sunshine and then a few rainy/ sunny mixed afternoons followed by one day which was a complete washout. The food was excellent during the entire stay. Dishes were always replenished, always so hot and there was something for everyone. The Indian was absolutely delicious. Cafe Mass was great for lunch or if you fancied pizza/burger etc for dinner. We really enjoyed the a la carte restaurant too and the staff went above and beyond for our twins at all meal times making sure they were always catered for. The cocktail bar genuinely has 101 different cocktails on the menu so there's definitely something for everyone there! The staff are an absolute credit to this island. Special mention to Priti and Ampoovr in the Indian restaurant; two lovely ladies who just couldn't do enough for us and were always so good with the children. Kepi in the main bar; honestly one of the nicest people, so friendly and always welcomed us and made the time to talk. Edward on reception who went above and beyond for us one evening when we realised there was no baby changing facility so had to get back to the room! This by the way, was one of the only negatives; the washrooms at reception and at the restaurants have no baby changing facilities and the fact that it's an island that welcomes young families this definitely needs addressing. We made use of the two boat trips which are included. The dolphin trip was fab, we saw approximately 15-20 dolphins so this was great. The sunset trip was a little bit cloudy, but on a good day this would be beautiful. There's excellent snorkelling right off the beach and the jetty, where you'll see good coral, a plethora of fish, black tip sharks, sting rays and turtles. The island is completely pushchair friendly as the main paths are hard flat surfaces. There's shops in the lobby, but hardly anything there. If you've never travelled to the Maldives before, then remember to take more than enough baby supplies with you as you won't be able to purchase any on the island. There's really only 2 negatives to mention. One being the non existent baby changing facilities in all of the washrooms. The second is the main restaurant is uncomfortably warm. I understand that it's open to the outdoors and obviously cooking stations make it hot, but it was borderline uncomfortable sometimes. Aside from these two things, the holiday was incredible and could not be faulted. It was magical being able to take our young twins somewhere so special and create memories to last a lifetime. Absolutely amazing! I especially loved the karaoke night—my friends and I had such a blast singing and laughing all evening. The atmosphere on the island is so friendly and welcoming, and everyone, from guests to staff, made it feel like home. The reception team was incredibly caring and attentive, making sure we were always well looked after. A big thank you to July and Andrea for making our stay even more special and unforgettable!
