I pulled up to the Fort Wilderness security gate in the afternoon earlier this month (January 2024). I gave the cast member, Christopher, my ID and told him that I was visiting family at site 2052. I gave them the last name for the reservation, and he said “we’re not allowing you on property since you’re not on the reservation”. I mentioned that there hadn’t been an issue the past two days and asked if there was a reason that the policy suddenly changed. He said I have no idea, and I replied, “Well, I’m just confused as to why that suddenly changed.” To which he repeated, “ I have no idea.” I replied, asking if there was someone who could explain why, and he said “my manager” and radioed someone to the booth. While he was calling the manager up, the woman behind him in the booth, without coming out to acknowledge me or identify herself, yelled out to him, “Don’t bother; we will just trespass him and the family.” To which I replied, “There’s no need for that,” and I let Christopher know that I will turn around and exit the property. He then said, “If you park anywhere on the road adjacent to the property, we will have you trespassed.” My fiancé and her sister had driven over in the golf cart while this was going on to make sure there wasn’t an issue with me coming in. They walked over to the booth to ask how I could come to visit. The two cast members went inside the booth as they approached and closed the door and window. My fiancé’s sister knocked on the door to ask if there was a way to add me to the reservation or something that needed to be done to grant me access. They yelled out to her that they were not allowed to be there and would be trespassed. The leader, Neil, then approached them. They told him that they were trying to sort out how to let a family member in. He stated that he already knew about the issue and that they could be trespassed for this. He stated that if I wanted to visit, I could visit them at the security gate to say goodbye or whatever I needed to do, but no one but hotel guests are allowed on property at any time. He stated that the property rules had changed in the last year, and the resorts no longer allowed anyone who wasn’t staying at the specific hotel on property. They asked if I could be added to the reservation, and he said no. My fiancé stated to me that he remained very hostile and mean throughout the interaction. I am absolutely appalled at how aggressively this was handled. I felt like I was being treated as a criminal for trying to visit my family. When they decided to drive down in the RV to visit, they specifically asked the front desk staff if I would be able to come spend time with them and were told that it shouldn’t be an issue. This was the driving decision for booking this resort. I visited customer support at Disney Springs, who were incredibly friendly and tried to find a way I could visit them. They called Fort and found out they were in a “phased closure” but noted that the cast member should have suggested I try parking at Magic Kingdom or going to Disney Springs. The cast member apologized for the incident and also noted that they might have been “particularly hostile and on edge since you drive a Tesla (Model 3) based on recent events” referencing the recent terrorist attack using a CyberTruck. From my vantage point, the initial interaction with Christopher was handled poorly because when I was confused by his rejection, his response was to continually repeat that he had no further information, rather than offer alternatives such as TTC or Disney Springs or to mention that they were under a phased closure, which is why he couldn’t allow visitors in. Instead of stepping in when he didn’t have an answer, his coworker chose to immediately escalate the situation by saying she was going to have both me and my family trespassed. The second interaction where Christopher and his coworker closed themselves in the booth and shut the light off to avoid my fiancé asking them how to add me to the reservation was childish. The leader, Neil, then yelling at my fiancé and her sister that they could get trespassed for trying to resolve the issue was unacceptable for a manager. He chose to continue to escalate the situation, aggressively threatening two young women and providing contradictory information to what had been given at the time of booking. This entire situation was incredibly upsetting to both me and my family. My family ended up leaving that night since they couldn’t visit with me and don’t plan to return to a Disney resort anytime in the near future. I understand this is an incredibly busy and stressful time of year for guests and staff, but aggression and threats should not be the very first interaction from any person, be it a guest or employee, and it’s entirely unacceptable behavior. I reached out to customer support via email outlining everything above and never got a response. Read less

Been many times for holidays, so no surprise it’s busy. Actually, we were prepared for bigger crowds and everything to be chaotic. It really hasn’t been! Not one lightning pass purchased and we’ve done all the big rides! Cast members in park are great this trip! Christmas wasn’t busy at MK, we had a great time! We have been able to park hop up to 3 parks a night! Guest have been amazing to talk to! It’s truly been a magical holiday time visiting at one of the busiest time of the year. I would tell anyone to do it! Make sure you bring little trinkets and rent golf cart. There are fb grounds for scavenger hunts at the Fort so cool! If coming for Christmas bring a stocking and set it out. These campers truly make your time here amazing! Do your research!! The only down side to our vacation has all been Disney’s problems of lack of cast members in certain areas, communication and proper routine maintenance. Our comfort station hasn’t been kept up at some point of our trip. My 18 yo watched them walk in look at the mess and leave on golf cart. No cleaning was done. This morning my 17 yo said they were disgusting when he ventured up there and went to a different comfort station. Buses not running in timely manner. Excuses after excuses. Bus drives saying bus broken, online chat and phone calls saying Disney Springs at full capacity. If that was the case, us and the 40 other people would have loved to know so we could have made other plans instead of eating an hour waiting for a bus to never show up! We could’ve went back to camper to eat, found something outside of Disney or went to the boardwalk if proper communication was done via management and cast members. We got there and it was less busy than Dec 26th! many guest missed movies and were on phone with dining reservations. Off the clock cast members texting their friends getting to bottom of things. Estimated time board has been broken for months according to regular guest. They were just her 6 months ago and it’s still broken. Lots of improper planning and routine maintenance not being done. It’s a shame! Broken rides, ice machine was also broken. We talked to maintenance on 26th about it bc there was a sign on it and asked if it was going to be fixed soon and he had no idea or who had but sign on it. May have been another guest. No work order done on it! Horse riding was subpar. No pictures taken! We were told we could and were never given the chance to. My 13 yo was very upset, her horse was beautiful. We had to lock phones up and were told at then end we could get pictures. Never happened. My dad showed up to take one and was treated rudely. We have had better services in Saint Joe beach l, st Augustine and Brown county state park (Indiana) than here for horse riding. Read less

They do make you leave after 27 days, stay off property for 3 nights, then you can return. Our first site was 109 and then we relocated to 111. We love the 100 Loop as it's only steps away to the Settlement and the boat that takes you to the Magic Kingdom. Our stay was truly magical! There is so much to do at The Fort. Even if you aren't a fan of the theme parks, you can keep busy here for weeks! We loved walking over to Crocketts Tavern, people watching from the rocking chairs on the porch, and enjoying one of their delicious moonshine cocktails! The Halloween and Christmas decorations are so lovely! I took free Pickleball lessons this time. The coach was wonderful and I learned so much! I also signed up for the Backwoods Segway Tour. This is my second time and I can't recommend it enough! The guides are wonderful! We rented one of their golf carts for part of our stay. It's fun to go "Jingle Loopin" at night to see all the holiday decor. My hubby and I took the trail ride on horseback to celebrate his 89th birthday! So much fun! And easy. We have camped in dozens of RV parks across the nation. This one is the best.....and always feels like "Coming Home!" I would be happy to answer any questions , if anyone needs help with planning. 😊 Read less

Currently staying here and it’s easily one of the worst camping experiences I’ve had. The facilities are beautiful however the campsites in the 2000 loop which is designated for tent/pop up campers are extremely close together with no privacy. Our site was next to a family with a dog and many young children. The dog barked well past 10 o’clock the first night and the children were running around screaming at the top of their lungs the second. The scent of marijuana was also notably present every night. When the dog was barking at midnight I attempted to look for a number to report the disturbance and was unsuccessful. With numerous empty sites on this loop right now I’m wondering why they chose to place families next to each other when they could’ve spread it out. People drive recklessly on the golf carts at all hours, yelling profanity, and squealing tires. There seems to be plenty of staff present during the day, I’m not sure where they are at night or what kind of security protocols they have. I expected a family friendly campground and this is far from it. Another thing to consider, which I hadn’t when booking, is the fireworks. On nights we tried to go to bed early we were woken up by the sound of the MK fireworks. Which I realize I should have anticipated. Read less
