With the recent negative reviews, along with the photos showing concerning cleanliness (that don't mention about being addressed by the hotel management), I had taken the decision to upgrade to a Disney hotel, extra cost and staying on Disney property will be worth it. So many hotels used to be recommended on W. Irlo Bronson Memorial Hwy by Virgin Holidays, this seems to be the last one standing (literately) as all others were either knocked down to become stores or downgraded. Read less

We read a few bad reviews prior to booking but we had booked this through Virgin Atlantic and were due to stay for 21 nights, even through we were planning to stay with family and friends over the Christmas period. The hotel was very busy when we arrived but we were checked in very quickly, the staff on reception were very helpful and friendly throughout our stay. The room was clean and comfortable, but only 5 clothes hangers which was not enough for clothes for a 3 week stay. but, housekeeping supplied extra without any fuss. Plenty of clean towels, tea and coffee making facilities, a microwave oven and a fridge with a small freezer compartment. However, a few reviews had mentioned the noise, yes it was very noisy, cars with loud exhausts racing up and down 192, lots of very loud emergency service vehicles up and down the main road. We quickly got used to it but I can see it being a problem for some people, probably better to request a room at the back of the hotel, which we would have done if it had been a problem for us. Lots of noise from the front car park, even though we were on the 4th floor we could hear people talking and shouting outside. The noise from Old Town may also cause some disturbance, but it does close late evening. Two weeks in and our beds had not been made, we asked reception if this was normal, they said we had to request this service, and the beds were made every other day, however, two weeks in and the bed linen had not been changed, housekeeping sorted this right away. Breakfast was the same thing everyday, which got a bit boring, and the 'hot' food was always lukewarm, but I found a microwave oven that solved this. The staff were lovely, they were helpful and kept the place clean. The balcony in our room was tiny, but the door was screwed shut so we could not open it in any case, the rooms at the back had opening doors along with chairs, it would be nice to be able to sit outside in the evenings in summer. All in all, this was not the worst hotel I have stayed at and I will be very happy to stay again, but not in a front room. Friendly, helpful staff, clean hotel and rooms, what is there not to like? I recently stayed at Holiday-Inn & Suites Orlando SW - Celebration area and it was, without a doubt, the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. From cleanliness to service, everything was shockingly bad, and the hotel’s dishonesty only made matters worse. Here’s a detailed account of the problems I faced: 1. Cockroaches in the room: I was horrified to find cockroaches in my room, crawling around as if it were their home. This is an immediate red flag for any hotel. The fact that they allow their rooms to reach this level of infestation shows a complete lack of care for hygiene and guest comfort. It’s deeply unsettling and unacceptable to encounter pests where you sleep. 2. Black mold in the bathroom: The bathroom was in terrible condition, with black mold growing around the tiles. This isn’t just a cosmetic issue—mold can cause serious health problems, especially for those with respiratory issues or allergies. It was obvious that the bathroom hadn’t been properly cleaned or maintained in a long time. I couldn’t believe the hotel allowed guests to use such an unsanitary space. 3. Inconsistent cleaning services during the stay: Despite staying multiple days, housekeeping was inconsistent about cleaning our rooms. It felt as if the staff completely disregarded any responsibility for keeping the rooms clean. This made the entire stay uncomfortable and frustrating. 4. No response on the intercom: The level of unresponsiveness at this hotel was astonishing. Whenever I tried to call the front desk or housekeeping through the intercom, no one ever answered. Whether it was for cleaning services, fresh towels, or any assistance, I was met with silence. It’s completely unacceptable for a hotel to be so unreachable when guests need help. 5. Lies about lodging complaints and refunding service fees: One of the most frustrating aspects of my stay was the blatant dishonesty. I went to the front desk twice to formally lodge complaints about the unsanitary conditions and lack of service. Both times, the staff assured me that my complaints were logged and that I would be refunded for the service fees due to the poor experience. However, when I followed up via the booking site for my refund, the hotel denied ever receiving any complaints. Being lied to by the hotel staff added insult to injury and showed their complete lack of integrity. 6. Smelly, dirty, and dusty carpeting: The entire hotel, including the room and hallways, smelled musty and unclean. The carpets were visibly dirty, dusty, and hadn’t been properly cleaned in what seemed like months. The foul odor lingered throughout my stay, making it impossible to feel comfortable in the space. It was clear that cleanliness and upkeep were not priorities for this hotel. In summary, Holiday-Inn failed on every front—from hygiene to customer service to basic honesty. The cockroach infestation, black mold, inconsistent room cleaning and the dishonesty regarding my complaints made this the worst hotel stay I’ve ever had. I strongly advise anyone considering this hotel to look elsewhere. It’s simply not worth the headache, discomfort, and frustration. Read less
