This hotel by Hyatt was rated category 8, but really it’s only Category 8 by location, otherwise more like category 5-6 at best. This hotel by Hyatt was rated category 8, but really it’s only Category 8 by location, otherwise more like category 5-6 at best. There is a nice partial ocean view and easy access to water adventures such as jet skiing and snorkeling adventures, and perhaps it’s category 8 because they have fancy restaurant, spa, pool, etc…but for the average person looking for a category 8 experience, this is nothing like the other category 8 such as Hyatt in Monterey or the all inclusive Alila Ventana Big Sur. Our room 1208 was located right next to housekeeping and boy were they loud at night and morning. We could hear everything through the door which was definitely not sealed, you could see the light between the door and the frame. Would I pay category 8 cash price for this? Definitely not. Would I pay category 8 points for this? Probably not. But given that vs paying for another resort out of pocket, it more or less made the choice for me. I would say if you have points you have to use and are planning to go to key west, use it for Hyatt centric key west. Otherwise, save the points for a more appropriate category 8, and just pay cash. We have been going to the Hyatt for over 10 years now. It is one of the nicer hotels on the island and in a great location. But it is definitely in need of a update. Room was clean but showing signs of wear and tear. Cracked tiles. Dirty shower floor that you can tell used to be white but are now gray. Drawer broken on the dresser. Little bit of… Read more

Room was clean but showing signs of wear and tear. Cracked tiles. Dirty shower floor that you can tell used to be white but are now gray. Drawer broken on the dresser. Little bit of mold in the shower on the corners. Picture frame hanging in the room was falling apart. Hotel staff were very nice and helpful. They use water bottles and have refill stations in different locations which is nice. Another comparable hotel would be The Marker but with that one we did find the walls to be a bit thin. Read less

We really love this place. We've been here a total of five times (if you include a 1990's visit). The location in Old Town is great. There are two employees here who we really love seeing: Marcela at reception, and Sasha the bellman. (Sasha, I apologize if I got your title wrong.) They are genuinely good people who are really good at their jobs.… قراءة المزيد

We drove all day from West Palm Beach to stay 1 night at the Hyatt Centric in. Key West. Our 1-night stay was so disappointing. First off, our room. had NO view. Our room looked out to the back of one of the hotel's other buildings. We didn't expect to be put in a room with NO view! Unbelievable! Shocking in fact! How can anyone rate this a 4 or 5-star hotel? Avoid staying in a room located near the front desk office location. No view. Second, the next morning all morning long we heard the constant beeping of the mechanized lift that was pruning the palm trees on the property. The hotel had never given us a prior warning about this noise. We complained at the time of checkout. To their credit, management did give us a partial refund of the Hyatt Discoverist points we had used to pay for our brief 1-night stay. Would we stay at the Hyatt Centric in Key West again? No!!! To get a room with NO view and to experience constant noise in the morning was clearly not what we expected when we booked this hotel. Not what we expected from a "first class hotel," which it is not! The Hyatt Centric is SO VERY expensive! It is not worth it. The Hyatt Centric in Key West cost us 40000 Hyatt Discoverist points (before the partial refund). In comparison, the Hyatt Regency in Sarasota only cost us 15000 Hyatt Discoverist points for a 1-night stay. The room in Sarasota was nice and came with a great view. Even the Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach is only 20000 Hyatt Discoverist points for a 1-night stay. Why is the Hyatt Centric so expensive? Probably because it is so centrally located. It is only a couple of long blocks to Duval Street where the better restaurants are in downtown Key West. A few blocks further away in the same area is the Ernest Hemingway House. As my wife can't walk far, we actually drove our car to the tourist attractions in Key West and found parking near each location. Be aware that the Hyatt Centric Hotel is not that big a property. The pool area is small and feels confining. There is no beach to speak of. No sandy beach. Can't see children being at this hotel. Not really for children. The hotel is by the harbor. The Four Flamingos restaurant is not rated as well as other restaurants in downtown Key West. So why stay here? The main thing the Hyatt Centric has going for it in Key West is location, location, location. But is it worth the price when there are alternative decent accommodations available? We don't think so. Key West is lovely and quaint, but the Hyatt Centric is way too expensive for what one receives. Not worth the expense. We would recommend staying at another resort and driving into downtown Key West to enjoy all the sights there. Don't waste your money staying at the Hyatt Centric in Key West. Read less
