The hotel

In a secluded bay, overlooking a beach regarded as the most beautiful on Phuket, this is certainly an idyllic holiday choice. Soft golden sand to glide along, sunsets to admire, and, of course, beautiful accommodation, ranging from Junior Suites to those set back amongst trees and tropical flowers. Pampering pursuits include a full-service spa and a beauty salon, ensuring you look and feel your best. As well as lots of sports activities you can get involved in more cultural endeavours, take a Thai cooking class and learn how to carve those fancy fruit decorations or enjoy a workout whilst learning the art of Thai boxing. Finally, a word about those restaurants, there are several to choose from, serving Thai and Western delights for breakfast, lunch and dinner. There’s also La Scala for Italian cuisine and light music, plus several beach bars for an enticing tropical cocktail!

We booked last minute in a Thani junior suite. Our first room was close to reception on the ground floor and was quite noisy. The following day, we moved to a room in the same wing, further away and this was perfect for our stay. The room and whole resort is immaculately clean. The tranquil, lush gardens are a perfect holiday haven. The resort is perfect for families with younger kids. My teen enjoyed her stay as well and we utilised the adults only pool for quieter afternoons. The garden massages are amazing and we had these each day, absolute bliss. Breakfast range was very good, we never ate at the buffet for dinner. We tried la Scala Italian, as well as the restaurant at the Bhuri wing, opposite the 7/11 (name escapes me) and we enjoyed both of these dining experiences. The staff are all extremely friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend this resort. The location is excellent as you have a private beach and not too far to kata or Patong if you like shopping in the afternoons and then return to the quiet and tranquil gardens of Katathani, after the noisy hustle and bustle outside the resort. I would love to return one day! Read less

Our KU0NI/GO VACATIONS REP, NOO, had explained to the Katathani Resort about our reason for the holiday but, something got Lost in translation as when we arrived everyone was wishing us a happy honeymoon. We explained the honeymoon was 50 years ago and that was the reason for the holiday. This resort has 6 swimming pools and one is for adults only It has a good assortment of dining halls with a wide choice of dishes. A fitness suite and sauna, a childrens water play area, a spa, plenty of Thai Massage stations to relieve your stresses makes for a peaceful holiday There is also a local supermarket across the road from the hotel along with small shops and restaurants Kata thani in a large resort so it never feels crowded Take a local taxi to Kata and stroll through the markets a simple local taxi for 200 baht each way and it's a bit of an experience. We were booked into a junior suite with the Sea View it was a little old and could do with an update but still manageable A small card left on the bed asked if the pillows were too soft or too hard or the mattress was too hot soft or too hard you could have it changed we found the mattress far too soft and ask the to have it changed it was done very quickly Read less

We went back to the Katathani 2 years after our 1st visit. The rooms were as good as they were & the grounds were well kept. The staff were all helpful & nothing too much trouble. The breakfasts were more then ample with a large variety to satisfy all tastes. would definitely stay there again

We visited Katanthani with two small kids (age 0 and 3 yrs.) as well as my mother-in-law. The hotel is very big and on both sides of the street. We were in one of the bigger rooms in Thani wing, which were suitable for a family but also placed furthest away from the kids area. Meaning we had to walk very far with the kids and the stuff you need to bring for the kids. Would recommend Bhutto wing with small kids (but also far to the beach). There are only 3 exits/entrances to the beach, which is public. We saw a number climbing the fence. Could be ideal with another entrance located at the n/w end. Food is very European and alright (nothing more and nothing less). A little pricy compared to hotels in Kata. The hotel is taking up the entire Kata Noi area. There’s a few shops and other restaurants but otherwise you have to climb the hill to Kata. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Cannot recommend their specialised Thai restaurant (CHANADDA), with so much delicious traditional Thai food everywhere, it was simply made too advanced and pricy compared to taste. We did not try any other restaurants but the pool bars and the breakfast restaurant. We read that the Thani wing should be the luxurious part but it seemed old and worn down. Our terrasse door came out, the one TV didn’t work and furniture was in general old. The outdoor playground shown on pictures doesn’t currently exist. Pools are great and it’s not difficult to find sunbeds. We would not come back as the hotel is simply too big and differentiated for our taste (luxurious area, beach club, kids zone, adult zone etc.). Read less

Our cheaper room has a better view. There is a internal step that is a trip hazard. We asked for a down grade just so they could at least be closer to the rest of the families which they can do but will not reimburse in anyway. They paid premium for a room that is far from premium. The wait staff are lovely, the beach is lovely but customer service on whole is lacking. So disappointing. Read less
