The best located hotel in Bequia! It's a 10-15 minute walk from the ferry terminal. Located on the beach of Belmont Walkway and walkable to the Princess Margaret beach. Close to many restaurants and bars. The staff is friendly and helpful. The villa we stayed in was so close to the beach that you can hear the ocean.

We stayed at the Plantation Hotel in a beachfront villa which as great - spacious, comfortable, great beds and peaceful. The location is perfect - right on a small white stretch of beach on the Belmont Walkway and handy for Princess Margaret Beach around the corner - as well as close to the small town of Port Elizabeth. Staff were friendly and hard working. The hotel is a beautiful place. But, the restaurant was a problem for us. The food on the evening menu is well cooked and pleasant enough but it is a very limited menu and less imaginative than say The Fig Tree, Jack's Bar or Mac's Kitchen - all of which are nearby. The biggest issue with the restaurant though, is the wild beach dogs which are allowed to roam freely around the open restaurant which is by the beach. These dogs are flea ridden and dirty and are constantly under your table and/or begging for food. At breakfast one morning we counted 6 of these animals in the restaurant. They seem to be breeding around the hotel vegetable garden as we saw several very young puppies around that part of the hotel gardens over the course of 8 days. The staff make some attempts to get rid of the dogs but seem resigned to the fact that they are there. As did the owner when I spoke to her upon checking out. She seemed to consider this a fault of her staff - rather than a hotel management and operational matter. Frankly, we found these animals disgusting and only ever ate breakfast at the hotel restaurant. Other meals were taken at good (cheaper) places nearby Other restaurants and bars along the Belmont Walkway had no tolerance of these dogs and kept them out by various means. Staff at these places were very much aware of the number of dogs in the Plantation House restaurant We would need to be sure this problem with wild dogs has been successfully addressed before we would stay again. That is the only issue with this wonderful place to stay, hopefully it can be resolved. Read less

We've had drinks before in this beautifully located hotel/restaurant, but last night was the first time we've eaten there. What could be more memorable than celebrating a special birthday in this wonderful place? My husband told me over a year ago that he wanted to celebrate his 60th birthday on His favorite island of Bequia and that rather than renting a house that he wanted to stay in an oceanfront cottage at the Plantation. I planned well in advance to be sure he got his wish and the people at the resort were absolutely amazing- especially Ms. Zemore Grant, the front desk supervisor! At the last minute- the week before our trip- a hurricane was threatening to perhaps disrupt our plans if it went through the Florida panhandle (where we were departing from) or through the rest of Florida and cause problems for our flight to and overnight stay in Miami. I did not want to take a chance on that so we decided to move our trip up a day before the possible weather. I contacted Ms. Grant to see if we could add a night to the front end of our reservation but due to a wedding reception at the hotel we could not get the room we had reserved for that night. She told us they could accommodate us in a garden room and we could move the next day so we booked it. We arrived on the ferry from St. Vincent and our cab to the resort was behind a festively decorated truck carrying the bride, groom and some of the wedding party so we had a fun ride punctuated by many honking horns and happy waves and calls from passing vehicles. To our surprise, when we checked in Ms. Grant told us that we had been upgraded to the honeymoon suite (complete with private plunge pool) for the night. The bed was decorated with flowers and a "Birthday cake with candles" fashioned out of a bath towels and flower petal candles, a personalized 60th birthday card from the staff and a bottle of wine. What a fabulous group of people! Our week wen by too quickly- we loved our #9 cottage with a covered porch, plantation chairs, and a view of the beautifully landscaped and meticulously maintained lawn, pool, and sea beyond- it was well furnished, comfortable and extremely quiet and private. The housekeepers did an excellent job of taking care of us as well. My husband loved the convenience of walking to Dive Bequia every day for his morning dive and I walked into Port Elizabeth several times for some shopping and sightseeing. The meals we had at the hotel were very good as was the service- we even had a very tasty pizza delivered to our room after a long day on the water with Gusto sailing to the Tobago Cays. A real standout was the Thanksgiving night buffet with Live music- it was a beautifully laid out spread featuring roast turkey, smoked ham, beef roast at carving stations and a seafood and grilled fish station as well- a nice selection of vegetables and sauces all started off with a harvest salad, pumpkin soup and 5 other appetizers on a buffet to choose from. My husband especially enjoyed the bacon wrapped grilled brussel sprouts. The music was soft and a nice accompaniment to this lovely and very well attended event. Kudos to all of the lovely, hardworking staff! The beach was a great place to swim and float every day with plenty of loungers and we also enjoyed the nice pool every afternoon- conveniently located next to the bar! We both really needed a very relaxing time to unwind from a stressful year without a lot of driving and exploring (we did feel like we had done a good bit of that on a previous trip) and the Plantation provided us with one of our best vacations ever!!! We WILL be back! Read less
