So our ninth visit to Sandals Halcyon Beach this year was just as amazing as our first one 10 years ago! This is certainly our “happy place” and our family here at the resort always welcomes us home with a hug and smiles. The list of family members that we need to give a special thanks to continues to grow every year! To our culinary family of McQuayle, Kimberly, Bertholina, Liz, Shari, Angel, and Chef Titus we dined like royalty and the food options were incredible. We think the new pizza truck is a fantastic option! Getting to chat with you all while we ate was an added bonus and we so appreciate you taking the time to make us feel special. To our spa services family members Dawn and Iva we thank you for our couples massage that we enjoyed…you never disappoint and you know how much Erik likes his “karate chop” session! We also appreciated Celine greeting us with such warmth and a friendly smile. To the newest member of our Halcyon family, Ciaton, we had so much fun with you! You made our rebooking super easy and look forward to meeting up with you again next February. Thank you for providing me with “Erikable” as I will definitely use that in the future! Michelle was so helpful as well getting some info straight with our rewards app…she also made us feel so appreciated! We very much enjoyed our afternoons with the Paradise Pool members and Erik would like to give a shout out to Ryan! Both the swim up bar pool and long pool were amazingly well maintained and absolutely gorgeous! Housekeeping kept our room well stocked and clean. We had a wonderful chat with Patrick and we sure hope he’s feeling better soon! Sadly we didn’t run into Clint until our last day but he sure lit up our afternoon when he spotted us and we are so touched that he remembered us from two long years ago…what a sweetheart! We met Umwalee for the first time and he quickly joined our Halcyon family with his contagious smile and sense of humor! The highlight of our trip every year is always getting the opportunity to dine with these amazing folks and this year was no exception with Melissa, McQuayle, Dawn, and Ciaton…sorry you couldn’t make it this year Iva! Lastly, we have to thank Amy Melissa 😉 for just being a fabulously amazing friend and Sandals representative. First time choosing Sandals! Loved the hospitality and overall resort vibe! Greeted by Micah when we first checked in and honestly he exemplified amazing customer service. First impression is a major factor when traveling anywhere on vacation. The entire staff was friendly and willing to assist. You notice many employees wear multiple hats which is nice because you see familiar faces throughout your stay. The restaurants were all great, I will say Kelly’s Dockside has a slow kitchen but worth the wait! Excursions are a must outside the resort given how beautiful the island is! We had an amazing 2 weeks at Sandals Halcyon. The holiday was absolutely amazing, loads of positives which I will go through below: - arrival at the airport & transfer There is a sandals lounge, this is a door to the left right before the double doors for the arrivals hall. You can get a drink, there is air con, WiFi and you will then be told what minibus to go on. The transfer is around an hour and a half. The roads are quite windy so bear this in mind if you get travel sickness. - arrival at the hotel It was such a lovely welcome, cold towels and check in at the club lounge with Mickey who was so lovely and friendly, he made us a welcome drink (rum punch) and then showed us to our rooms, he also conducted the orientation the following morning which was really useful to know where everything is. He always has a smile on his face and always happy to chat! - rooms We stayed in a crystal lagoon walk out club level room, rooms were nice and clean, and the lagoon was lovely, these rooms are round the back of the quiet pool so you don’t hear any of the music from the entertainment in the evenings. - Team The team here by far made the holiday, everyone is absolutely amazing, so friendly and really welcoming. Adam & Lishaun the don from the entertainment team are amazing at what they do, always smiling and making time to chat, Sam & Jay are brilliant as well! The bar team (both pool & Irie) are always on hand to keep you hydrated with their lovely cocktails, Vince, Jonathan & Chris are so friendly and never leave you sitting without a drink! I had an issue with the sandals app and Vaince was so helpful, and fixed it straight away for me, he was always happy to chat and so friendly. I’m sure I’ve missed so many more but everyone really is fantastic. The very few cons: - The restaurants book up fairly quickly so if there is anywhere you’d like to try, get your reservations in as soon as you can. - The shuttles to the other hotels only run every 2 hours so for example for a 7pm reservation, you need to catch the 5:15 bus, meaning your day by the pool/beach is cut. - The sun loungers in the morning are reserved really early, the butlers reserve theirs around 06/06:30am every morning so you need to be down quite early if you want to lie by the main pool. - some of the service in the restaurants can be slow, this didn’t bother us but we know for others this was an issue. - The Italian restaurant (Mario’s) was the only restaurant we really didn’t enjoy, and this seemed to be a common theme with others we spoke to. - Finally, the only concern we had over the 2 weeks was an incident we had one afternoon, my husband had stayed by the pool and I went back to the room to shower, all the rooms had been done up by this point and mini fridge restocked, when I came out the bathroom from the shower, there was a man from the housekeeping team in the room, he seemed to be standing no where near the fridge and told me he was in to check if we needed anything I said no and he left, it did make me feel a little uncomfortable as you could hear the shower was on so you would think someone would just walk back out the room rather than staying, we did feed this back to a member of the team and we were told this would be looked into but we never heard anything back. It didn’t spoil the holiday but I didn’t spend any time in the room alone after that. Overall the resort is beautiful, the people are amazing and we would definitely come back. Read less
