The resort and room was good - there were some small issues in the room - the sliding doors didn't fully close so our AC didn't fully cool the room - luckily I don't need a lot of AC. The fridge leaked so there was water on the floor. Other issue was rarely was there servers by the pool ( I assume that it was to push the butler service) but that isn't customer friendly for those who don't have it. Additionally there were so many seats reserved by pool before 6:30 am - all by the butlers - there should either be some left for other guests or more chairs put out so people have options. Lastly the service at the bar and servers need to be cognizant of the fact that if you request a non alcoholic drink its important to get that. I am allergic to alcohol and have severe reactions and twice was given drinks with alcohol even when asking as it was served. Overall, we enjoyed the stay the property is lush and beautiful, staff was the friendliest we've encountered and the food was typical for all inclusive. The best being the reservation required. Just returned from 2 weeks at the Grande. I cannot say enough positive things about this resort. The location is incredible. Yes, it is a long way from the airport and roads are not good but that did not detract from our amazing experience. The staff are the best part of this resort. They are warm, friendly, and are more than willing to assist with your every need. I know most reviews name individual staff members but I can’t as they were all wonderful in their own right. From the dive and watersports team to all the servers/food and beverage staff, and room attendants - you were all incredible. The food was really good. Coming from Vancouver, we were surprised how good the sushi was and the lamb at any of the restaurants was a real treat. We heard many people mention that the Grande is not only their favourite Sandals property but their favourite all inclusive. Well, you can add us to that list. Congratulations and thank you to everyone at the Grande for making our vacation so memorable!! Read less

Went to Sandals for our 25th anniversary and to celebrate 28 yrs of Military service and retirement. From the time we arrived the Hustle began from the locals. The bell hops at the Airport will ask nicely to take you to the Sandals lounge, and if you have never been there you won’t know it is literally 30 feet from the luggage pickup. The guy grabs your luggage and 20 seconds later drops it and you in the lounge asking for “Something for the service.” No Sandals reps at all. And there are plenty that could greet guest, they just don’t. When it was time to go the hotel a group of us went outside to the “Hotel Shuttle” only everyone didn’t fit, so they place you in a “Hotel Taxi” and of course 2 hours later when you arrive, the “Hotel Taxi” driver is looking for a Tip. So you feel obligated to give him one. So much for ALL INCLUSIVE.. The staff at the hotel were mostly very kind and sweet. Nakita at the Italian restaurant, Gail at the Pool Bar, Francis the manager and another super sweet young girl in the Pub were the highlight of the trip. All genuinely beautiful people. The folks at the customer service desk, were all subpar in their customer service skills and Clearly were there to Validate your Feelings, provide an empathetic ear and nod. Completely Text Book Psychology Confirmations. Very Patronizing. The staff promote the “Friday Night Street Party” Told us that the Sandals Shuttle would take us, and that it was only 5mins away. Well it was 5 minutes away, but the shuttle was NOT INCLUSIVE.. Which it should have been. Instead, it was $60 per person. Which is $120 St. Lucian dollars per person for a 3٫0 mile drive. Then they make you stay for 4 hours or you have to spend another $20 to come back via taxi. Mind you it is 1 street, that is ¼ of a mile long with bars and venders only. So after an hour and about 4 trips up and down the street. It’s the same crap, so everyone left and had to pay a taxi to get back. It was such a MONEY GRAB. Shame ON SANDALS. SHAME SHAME!! I don’t know if all Sandals are like this one but the behaviors to collectively get as much money out of their guest and collaborate with the locals is ridiculous. The aggressiveness of the vendors and locals is worse than Mexico, and very uncomfortable. The rooms were SUBPAR for the price we paid. The Presidential suite was not clean, was run down, and needed some serious renovations. Not worth the money. We were told by a Sandals Rep that they honored the Military Vets and gave 10% discount. When we goth there they refused to honor the discount. Told us it had to be done prior to arriving. Even though we had our ID’s and all receipts. I will assure that I communicate to ALL VETS I know to NEVER go here. Their managers have NO intentions on resolving Anything. The Country is beautiful. But DO NOT STAY AT ANY SANDALS.. Complete waste of money. Go elsewhere. Oh, and the food…. Not 1 SINGLE Mango in the eating facilities, No Plantains, No guava, No Avocados, No Bread Fruit… Like come on. They served French fries with the Jerk meat. I asked for Rice and Peas, and was told “your Not in Jamiaca” (Well I will be next time) The picture guys was annoying following you all over. And what’s up with asking me for my room number ALL the time. And how about the “Free” snorkeling boat excursion was full, from the day we arrived. There was No glass bottom boat, and forget about getting a pool chair unless you get up super early. I’m so disappointed. How about you consider honoring that Military Discount so I can at least feel some sort of satisfaction. Read less
