We booked this hotel after reading countless reviews and to be perfectly honest, the hotel itself ie beach, room, amenities, pool, splash pad and staff were amazing. What wasn’t quite 5* was the bizarre way in which you were expected to have your evening meals. Be prepared to wait 30mins+ with a small child as no bookings were possible and everything is first come, first served - resulting in people queuing (and by queuing I mean sat on the floor outside the restaurant) from 17:00 just to book a table! We spent a lot of time at the main buffet as a result of this which wasn’t a problem really but definitely detracts from the 5* expectation. The evening entertainment was also disappointing; slow drinks service and awful live music - we expected a lot more from a hotel that has built it’s reputation on music - the Elvis impersonator didn’t even know the words!! We would like to make a special mention to Valdo for his amazing service and friendly aura during the day at the pool. You really made our holiday and we can’t thank you enough! Overall, we would not recommend the Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya as we feel that the experience was lost within the “reputation” of the brand. Read less

We had a great time at The Gallo's restaurant we went there twice. The Manager and amazing staff took. Care of us like we were rockstars. The drinks kept on flowing and great attention to details. Great service definately check it out while staying at the hard Rock.

Awesome place, the weather wasn’t the greatest but the Hotel did everything they could to keep everyone happy. If you go by the pool or beach look for Rigoberto, he’s the absolute best pool concierge at the place!! If I could give him a 10 star review I would.

This is a very different resort than it was 4 years ago. It’s really gone downhill. Our room was good until the ceiling started leaking water. We called maintenance and they never came and the next day the ceiling opened up from the water damage and it was filled with black mould. It took half a day of our vacation to switch rooms and after all of that we were put into the same room category which was a bit surprising. Our 11 year was so excited for the water park. He spent days researching the slides on youtube and when we got there we were informed only 1 big slide was open. The rest were closed and he is too big for the toddler area. Apparently they have been closed since November. He was super disappointed and if we would have been told this when we booked, we would have chosen another resort. The buffet was closed for the week which created super long line ups because the entire resort was forced to go to restaurants. The food in general was just OK. For example, we ordered chicken tenders (loved them at HR Cancún and HR Punta Cana) and instead we got a chicken burger cut up. Lots of cutting corners. The legendary sales reps were super annoying. To the point we avoided the main lobby because as soon as we went in there they would follow you around trying to get you to attend a breakfast. Once of them even pulled us to the side and said he would give us $150 out of his own pocket if we would help him out and attend it. This is definitely not a 5 star resort anymore and for the amount we spent to come here we were pretty disappointed. Unfortunately our hard rock days are done. Read less
