Oleo Cancun Playa

The hotel

Using minimalism to maximum effect, the sculptural ice-white architecture and matching monochrome interiors of Óleo Cancún Playa give it a calm chicness that’s a far cry from the buzz and colour of your setting — right at the start of the famously vibrant Cancún Hotel Zone. The dedication to ‘white’ is only really interrupted by flashes of blue — homage to the sea and surf just steps from the hotel. Overlooking the beach, the infinity pool adds a touch more turquoise, with the pool bar’s tropical-inspired cocktails adding their own shots of colour. The styling may be minimalist, but the features aren’t. You’ve got spa treatments, complimentary WiFi, an art workshop, and restaurant menus that take you from Japan to Mexico and Peru, with stops on the way for comfort food, international favourites, and bakery treats served up with Starbucks™ coffee.

We stayed 5 nights in this all inclusive hotel and absolutely loved it! 1. We had booked a sunset view room but the room was situated in such a place that we got both lagoon view and ocean view. I couldn't have asked for anything better. The room was clean and housekeeping cleaned the room whenever we asked them to. It got pretty dirty with sand when we got back from beach and they cleaned it every time. 2. Front desk staff was very courteous in answering our questions. On our excursion days they arranged us to sandwiches to go. 3. The best part of this hotel is the food. We are vegetarians, we had plenty of options everyday. The chefs at the grill obliged our request to clean the table and knife before grilling veggies. There were lots and lots of options for food & dessert. During our excursion days we went to the bakery and got sandwiches to go. The food is perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned and very fresh. 4. The hotel is right on the beach and has fantastic views from every where. The currents are strong, but i walked all along the beach including Playa Delfines, they are no different. The beach along hotel zone are steep, some places have rocks . We had good time playing at the beach. 5. While at the beach we were constantly asked if we needed a drink If you have excursions planned and you'd like to explore hotel zone or relax this is the perfect hotel. If you only intend to stay in the hotel and not go out anywhere, you may want to consider because there are no entertainment option. I'd definitely recommend this hotel for their service, food and views. Read less

Housekeeping, restaurant servers, front desk workers, the entertainment team, etc... all were so warm and we felt cared for the entire time. Very much appreciated! - Solid food/dining was quite important to us and let's just say Oleo does not disappoint! Every meal we had was extremely delicious (and not just by all-inclusive standards)! The restaurants were especially fantastic. Not sure how busy these may get at other times of the year but we were seated right away all but once during our stay (mid-Jan 2025). The buffet also had great options every day, you could always find something to your taste. Great poolside snack bar, awesome drinks! Overall 10/10. - The property is situated right on the beach and this is truly the resort's main highlight. The location is unbeatable! We were able to get chairs every day of our stay and the views are just unreal. However, be warned that the waters may be extremely rough; I personally didn't swim in the ocean and there were often red flags to indicate that doing so was prohibited. - Cleanliness was great! Our room was spotless and the whole property has a modern, luxurious aesthetic to it. The restaurants in particular were so beautiful, I believe one has been recently renovated. Overall our stay at Oleo was one that we will remember forever! We hope to return :) Read less

I recently stayed at the Oleo Cancun Resort from Friday, January 17 to Tuesday, January 21 for a solo trip. The resort itself is beautiful, with a lovely beach, excellent room service, and great food at all the restaurants. However, my experience was marred by a couple of unsettling incidents that affected my overall impression of the resort. On my first evening, I felt uncomfortable during dinner due to a group of men making bold and unwelcome advances. When I declined their attention, I couldn’t shake the feeling of being unsafe, which made me apprehensive about the resort’s atmosphere from that point onward. Additionally, I had a very frustrating experience when trying to arrange my transportation back to the airport. On January 20, I called the front desk to inquire about it, and they told me I needed to come down in person. When I arrived at 8:30 AM, I was told I needed to return at 9 AM as the appropriate staff members weren't available. When I came back at 9, I was asked to wait as the person who had initially spoken with me was helping another guest. While I was waiting, Alberto, the bellboy, approached me aggressively, raising his voice and saying that the guests he was helping were ahead of me. Even though I explained I had been told to return at 9 AM, his behavior was uncalled for. He was loud, confrontational, and rude. When I refused his offer to assist me, he slammed his clipboard down and walked away, stating he would not help me. This was incredibly upsetting, and it left me feeling disrespected. I am unsure if this behavior was related to any form of discrimination, but it was certainly unpleasant. While the resort itself is generally pleasant and offers good amenities, these negative experiences — especially the poor customer service and the feeling of being unsafe at times — were significant downsides to my stay. I hope the management addresses these concerns to improve the experience for future guests. Read less

The rooms were spacious and the beds were very comfortable! The staff were lovely from the offset, and they wouldn't allow us to help carry our luggage. They cleaned our rooms every day and made sure our mini fridge was stocked up (complimentary for the whole stay). The entertainment was great. There was a DJ around the pool that would play games with us and offer other activities. Staff learnt your names very quickly. We booked a moonlight dinner for our 5 year wedding anniversary, and the effort that went into it was remarkable. Roberto and kevin are the best! You have a restaurant that has a buffet every day and you have 2 other restaurants, but we never tried them ones. The food in the buffet restaurant was okay, each night is a defo theme. We were gutted, we were only there for 7 days, but we're glad we chose oleo. The staff made the trip Read less

Everyone at the lobby bar and pool bar was super nice and the drinks were great. The Almar restaurant was delicious! Shout out to the chef who made our pizzas they were delicious!! The Hakka restaurant also had great Asian food their sushi was really good. We would eat breakfast at the Azul restaurant and it is buffet style and the staff was always super friendly. The hotel is at a great location we took the bus to go to many different places in Cancun. I have nothing to complain about the hotel. The only down side was that when we went in December some areas of the beach had the red flag so we couldn’t go in, only in the yellow flag areas we could and the good thing was there was a life guard but the ocean was still a bit rough. Also, shoutout to the lady at the brown bag coffee corner she is really sweet and here you can get coffee, we didn’t know about this place until we were about to leave. I hope that if you decide to stay at Oleo you also have a nice experience. Read less
