Awful service, poor quality food, need more help. Hotel was only half capacity when we were there but they were staffed for maybe 25%. The pool ran out of towels every single morning. Location of the property to the beach is beautiful. Hotel is aging and somewhat run down, but Service and poor food/beverages were the biggest issue

This is the first time I have rated any place we have ever stayed below 4 stars. My wife and I are not picky but do have simple basic standards and this resort really struggles with the basics. Positives - beautiful location and rooms are recently renovated. George and Barbara are awesome bartenders (lobby bar) and Hakeem is the best dinner server (not even a close second). Negatives - Beach is not swimable or even wade-in knee-deep friendly and pools are not heated. Food is average to below average and food options are incredibly limited. Virtually no service received on the beach and very little at the pool. Most staff just stand around and don't do anything. Very sad. Read less

Writing this review is my last resort, but given the lack of responsiveness of management, I feel it is necessary. Pros: close to airport, pretty property and friendly staff and very quiet, restful. The rest: the food is poor; they are forever out of things, even items grown on the island such as bananas (5 of 7 days out), coffee beans, Ackee (entire time). Other items often out even though offered on menu feta cheese, yogurt, pasta. Jerky Jo’s good, so long as you want chicken every day, supposed to have pork “tomorrow “, but tomorrow never comes. The property is small but still never a person to serve drinks at the pool, beach or elsewhere. One person can easily serve the entire property but not once in 8 days except after we said something to a manager someone came over, I asked for a bottle of water and she never came back with it. It was 100% self serve. It’s no big deal to walk to a bar but that’s not what you expect when you go to a high end resort. At times there’s no one even at the bar to serve you. Entertainment at dinner: dinner is from 6-9; most nights they have live music for 1 hour (7-8). When we asked why, it’s because the performer has other obligations- suggests poor planning by management, waiting until the last minute. We spoke to several people in management- General Manager David, afternoon manager Zephennia (spelling??) and Latisha (day manager). Not one offered to do a thing. Latisha was the last person I spoke to, she asked that I not reach out to corporate as they would send it back to the resort to resolve and to give her a chance, that she would call me this afternoon to resolve it (points). Needless to say, she has not called which is why the review. Her not calling is the epitome of the attitude of management- they don’t care. They don’t follow through. As we’re allowed to eat at the other Hyatt properties, we wanted to go 1 night since the food was so poor- they wouldn’t even provide complimentary transportation for the 15 minute ride- rather we’d have to take a taxi for $100 ( yes, $100, not a typo). I suggested that they take a survey of the people there from last Saturday to Thursday and I assure them that 9 out 10 (probably 10 out of 10) would not return. It is extremely underwhelming and a huge disappointment. This is supposed to be the high end of Hyatt - it’s anything but high end. As far as being a wellness resort- there’s nothing about it that suggests or promotes wellness. This is supposed to Hyatt’s high end properties- it is anything but. Read less
