The hotel

With its high-end design, jaw-droppingly gorgeous spa, 24-hour gym, and dazzling dining spots, this sophisticated adults only hotel wouldn’t look out of place in one of the world’s cool cities (think Miami or LA) – of course, you won’t be disappointed to find yourself along Doctor’s Cave Beach instead. The incredible location on the palm-fringed sands mean you get stunning views from the rooftop Sky Deck – with its glass-enclosed pool, comfy cabanas, and Jamaican-tapas menu. If you’d rather be nearer the sands, S Hotel Montego Bay also comes with an equally enticing beachside pool with daybeds, a pool bar, and a trendy vibe with a DJ playing the latest sounds during the day. S Hotel has direct access to Doctor Cave beach and offers guests complimentary sun loungers and waiter service so you lie back with your toes in the sand, relax and enjoy time here too.

We have just returned from 7 days at the S Hotel, Montego Bay. The bad: - The hotel is located in an urban area, and the neighborhood is not the nicest. Tourists walking on the main road get hassled regularly by taxi drivers, shopkeepers and the occasional "grass" sales person. - The hotel does not have its own beach. Instead, there is an area reserved for hotel guests at a public beach, called Doctor's Cave (Tripadvisor has reviews about the Doctor's Cave, search for it if you are interested.) Saturday and Sunday was very busy on the beach, but mid-week there was no crowd at all. The good: - The sunsets are the best you can get anywhere in the world. - Snorkeling is great. The coral is struggling for its life, like everywhere else, but there are plenty of colorful fish. To see the best, just swim up to the border of the Doctors Cave swimming area and follow the rope. Also, on the left side (if you face the ocean) there is a pier that is the lunch point for many boats taking people to snorkeling trips (a short ride, the reef is in front of Doctor's Cave). We used a smaller boat, Miss Poly. The captain is a great guy, we recommend him highly. Just walk up to the red boat when you see it next to the pier and talk to him. Occasionally he can be spotted at the left side of Doctor's Cave, where he can pick you up directly from the shore. He has a 2 person minimum policy, so if you are a couple, he will take you right away. - Food is great in the buffet-style Marketplace, and it is really good in any of the three restaurants. - The restaurants have a "high end" atmosphere. Our ranked preference was 1. seafood on first floor; 2. Italian on the fifth floor; 3. Jamaican on the sixth floor. The Italian restaurant had excellent beef tenderloin, the seafood place had an equally excellent warm water lobster tail. The presentation is beautiful, see the photos. - The view from our room was fantastic. - The service is attentive and professional. The advice: - Do not hesitate to ask for wine or sparkling wine at the bar. It is not on the menu, but they have them. - You should definitely make reservations to the restaurants as soon as you arrive. Not all of them are open all the time. Sometimes they accept walk-ins, keep trying. - In the morning go to the beach first, before breakfast, to reserve a spot. - At some places I feel ashamed if I do not tip. This is not one of them. Tips are not required, but accepted. - There are a few rooms without ocean view. They facing the parking lot, and they are absolutely not attractive. Summary: We had a great time at S Hotel. Highly recommended. Read less

Also, he was great at showing us around Montego Bay the duration of our stay. Read less

I had a fantastic time at the shop hotel. My room is very nice, clean and up to standard. The restaurants and very unique and we enjoy every one of them. The pool on the skydeck is private and view is priceless. The staff are the best part of our stay. Very friendly and readily available to assist.
