Booked via VRBO and stayed in 1 bdrm condo with 2 baths. We have always done an all inclusive and thought we would try something a little different. We had all the access to the Jewel Grande. We just paid for our food and drinks. Stayed in bldg B second floor. Review is based on resort not condo. Staff were excellent. Check in very seamless and loved that it was not far from the airport. Stopped at a grocery store to stock up. Accessibility warning! This resort has a ton of stairs. Be prepared! This is our sixth time to Jamaica and we have always found that we could snorkel right off the beach. This resort has a very limited beach area and the water is extremely shallow. We had no issues finding beach chairs under some shade on the beach every day. We didn’t show up until after 10 each day and there were always your classic beach chair savers but somehow we got lucky. I think we also picked a somewhat quiet week. There is a ton of shade because of the large buildings. Unless you are a 5 year old do not even plan on packing your snorkel gear unless you go off the resort on an excursion. Contrary to some reviews staff were raking up the sea grass washing up on shore. Sadly they also had to deal with the garbage washing up all long the beach. We spent zero time at the pool. Service along the beach was good. Tip these girls they work hard. Take the complimentary Hobie out each day. Tip the guys who take you out. They work hard. It’s a beautiful way to see the resort. The resort is quite spread out. Again many many stairs. We golfed at Cinnamon Hill one day which was great. Restaurants were all pretty good. Staff excellent. Food good. Definitely not cheap if you aren’t on the AI plan. The resort was a mix of everything. Families, girl trips, couples and wedding groups. There was entertainment every night if you wanted to partake. Very loud especially if you are in B or C building but it was done by 9:30 ish. There did seem to be ongoing maintenance all over the resort. The grounds were beautiful. I would say it does seem a little tired. Bldg B only one elevator was operating all week. We would not go back because of the beach and shallow water. Read less

Our room in the C building had a fabulous view and at arrival we had a bottle of bubbly and chocolates to highlight our 50th wedding anniversary. Pools are clean, albeit cold. The food is great and you are guaranteed to never go hungry. The coffee shop/ice cream parlour was open from 6;30 am to 10:30 pm and they served coffee, sandwiches, pastries and ice cream. All was delicious. The breakfast buffet was complete and all restaurants were enjoyable. Service from the heart is what puts this resort on the top of my experiences. Thanks so much to Shamara, our breakfast hostess, Kevoy, our master omelet maker, Stephanie who we saw at breakfast, both pools, and on the beach. She was everywhere. And Andre, our bellman, who explained many features of the hotel and our room. All of the staff here are amazing. Everyone made us feel welcome and comfortable. Kudos to the show put on by our Hibachi master. She was so fun and talented. We travelled with my son and his girlfriend and it was a wonderful vacation from start to finish. Thanks Jewel Grande! Overall it was a great hotel and location. However I can’t get past the fact that our shower leaked every single time it was turned on and not just a minor leak with a few spots on the ground. The whole bathroom and into the hallway was flooded every time we showered. I had Called to have this looked at Thursday Sunday and at check out on Tuesday and nothing was ever done. They are lucky myself or my husband were not hurt when we both slipped on the tile getting out of the shower. The water to the entire building we stayed in was also shut off for hours the day of the wedding we were both apart of. Read less

Just wrapped up our 5 day/4 night stay at the Jewel Grande in Montego Bay! Our group consisted of my husband and I (33yo), our son (2yo) and my in-laws (65yo). We stayed in a two bedroom suite. Let me preface this by saying this is my first experience staying at an all-inclusive. Overall we had a positive experience, largely due to the friendliness of the staff, but there were definitely some set backs. When we arrived, it was immediately apparent that things run on island time. My in-laws got to the hotel around 3pm and were told our suite wasn’t ready yet. We got there at 4:30 and were told the same thing. Finally we got to our suite around 5:30pm. Similar instance with dinner. We were told it was a buffet that started at 6:30, we arrived right at 6:30 (because we have a 2yo) and the buffet didn’t actually open until 7pm. During dinner they had live Jamaican music which was fun, but played until 9:30pm and was extremely loud even from our room (this ended up being every night). I don’t think either of these things would have been stressful if we were traveling without a child, but it was challenging with one. The resort itself was clean, but not new by any means. The bathrooms in the lobbies/restaurants throughout felt especially old and in need of an upgrade. The lobby and elevators were not air conditioned, but the rooms got nice and cold. We also lost power momentarily twice during our stay. Both times it was just a few minutes, but would have been scary in the elevator. Overall the food was good. Some restaurants certainly better than others. When we went (MLK jr week) it was not near capacity, so we had no issues getting reservations. LeBouchon (steak house) was the best, Pierside (hibachi) also was good, moonstone (Italian) was a good outdoor ambiance but food was average. The smoothie/juice bar in the spa was a hidden gem! I left definitely seeing the appeal of an all-inclusive resort, but wouldn’t plan on coming back here specifically. Toddlers/Kids: LeBouchon and Moonstone have a kids menu. There’s a changing table in the lobby bathroom, but not most bathrooms. We didn’t try the kids club, but the staff was very kid-friendly, so I’d imagine it would be fun for them. Beach toys are available for purchase in the gift shop (not complimentary). There were lots of stairs at the resort that were unavoidable - not stroller friendly. Our suite had a washer/dryer and detergent upon request which was very helpful. Read less

The Jewel Grande was amazing. I was a bit worried because of some negative reviews on Trip Advisor but shouldn’t have been. The food is great. Seriously. Breakfast has everything you could want. French toast, pancakes, bacon, sausage, selection of breads, baked goods, smoked salmon, fresh fruit, omelet station etc etc. The lunch buffet is also excellent. It also had an amazing selection of Indian food everyday. The best Indian food ever. Naan, roti, butter chicken, byrani etc. but also lots of options for western food as well. My husband loved that they grilled up fresh fish to order. He had it everyday. There is also an outdoor lunch spot (the pelican) and a jerk chicken hut on the beach. Both a very good. Drinks were good and strong. Red stripe always available. The adults in our group all agreed the house wine selections were very decent and enjoyable. Many selections for dinner a la carte. The Italian place was our favorite but all selections were excellent. Funnily enough the steak at the Waves restaurant was even better than the steak at the “steakhouse” restaurant. lol. You only need reservations for the Hibatchi style restaurant. Otherwise, head down to dinner at 6 when all the restaurants open and either get seated right away or put your name on the list and have an evening drink while you wait. There is a juice bar in the spa and a couple cafes with baked goods, little sandwiches, ice cream and desserts. The coffee at the resort was excellent as well. Our room was awesome and housekeeping was top notch. Shout out to our housekeeper, Glenda, who took very good care of us. Everything was in good repair. View was beautiful. Room was clean. We were in building C which was renovated. The rooms are gorgeous. Our in-laws stayed in building B and although not as new was still beautiful and clean. The pools were pristine and there are two hot tubs as well that many people enjoyed. The service around the resort was excellent. Being friendly and polite and tipping goes a long way. We were constantly checked on by all hotel employees. I was asked multiple times per day by various employees how my stay was going or if I needed anything. It seems some reviewers and tourists need to be reminded that we are lucky to be able to visit Jamaica. It’s a privilege. Visiting a different country will be different from your home. Embrace the differences and you will have an amazing time. I honestly have no idea how someone couldn’t have a good time here. Other Bonuses: - There was sunrise yoga on the beach every morning and at the Gazebo later in the morning . Great views. Lots of other fun activities available as well. - A variety of fresh fruit and herb infused water throughout the hotel. - there’s an awesome guy that will pick you a coconut and open it up for you so you can have fresh coconut water. - The Co Bigelow shampoo, conditioner body wash and lotion smell amazing and is good quality. My husband preferred it to what we brought from home! As most with most Caribbean hotels, upkeep and maintenance is ongoing. Jewel Grande seems to be on top of it. A few rickety bathroom locks here and there but anything else that needed to be repaired seemed to be dealt with within 24-48 hours. We will absolutely be back. We love Jamaica and now we have a hotel that we can count on to take care of us and for a great time. ♥️ Read less
