The beach at the sands in narrow but a lovely beach as they all are in Barbados, unfortunately it never gets cleaned. 90% of the staff at the hotel are very welcoming and friendly unfortunately some staff on the front Desk included the stand in Manager (not Rebecca)are not very helpful. Boys on the beach work hard as do restaurant staff & bar staff. Unfortunately as per previous reviews the food is hit & miss. Upon arrival I ordered crab cakes as a starter, two arrived on my plate the size of my thumb nail! . The menu tended to be repetitive. I once ordered from the snack menu at lunch time and ordered chicken strips with chips, an hour later after reminding them of my order dried up rubber chips with a few dried up chicken nuggets arrived, not good for a not so cheap hotel. This was my second visit to Barbados and we plan to return next year but not to the Sands. Read less

(Not full access via the beach but some walking along the main road. Look out Poor Paths) Small hotel. The facilities are too small for the number of guests so you have to queue at the bar and book lunch and dinner. It did work just very laid back. The reception area is very small with no lounge area to shelter if it rains. When it rains very hard you may only have your room to go back to. Rooms are very nice with all the things you would expect. Service friendly and good but laid back. Some nights dinner was buffet. Others table service. Food OK we never went hungry. We would return. The fresh fruit was ok but very often they’d run out of yogurts, the Omelettes were nice and freshly cooked . Lunch and dinner you can forget it was not good . On a really positive note the New Years Eve party was fabulous great food, entertainment, table decorations , great party atmosphere they really did go over and above . Read less
