We stayed for 6 nights at Sugar Cane Club and whilst the rooms were lovely and the reception area and bar were also lovely, the hotel is not one we would come back to. We booked through Expedia on room only as we wanted to explore Speightstown rather than stay all inclusive and that’s where our issues with the hotel lie. The hotel advertises 3 bars and 2 restaurants but does not say they are on rotation so in the evening there is only ever 1 bar and 1 restaurant open ( if you are not all inclusive then the food is very expensive and not nearly as nice as the restaurants in Speightstown), the pool bar closes at 6 as does the pool so it felt very regimented. When we booked the hotel also advertised that thereu was a beach club that guests had use of, but we were told that they no longer offer that when we arrived, no notification before we arrived so that washing a big disappointment for us. The staff are all very polite and friendly and the housekeeping staff do a great job, we enjoyed our stay it’s just not one for a return visit for us. Read less

Booking late, we had a virgin super saver room, which we love the layout as the telly is in the bedroom but won't use again as our room was 406 right above the store cupboard and a fan that vibrates into the room. They did turn it off after a second night and offer us a different room, but once we unpacked, i hate, having to move. Most wouldn't be bothered by the noise, but im the worst sleeper. Grounds are immaculate, and there's no shortage of sunbeds, unlike some hotels in barbados. Everything else was great. Food is above average. Occasionally, we had to wait a little longer than normal, and once our order was missed completely but ryan saved the day and sorted it quickly, even delivering our desert to our room. The staff are all great, if you're friendly they are aswell. The glass bottom boat trip is free and great. The bus runs regularly down to the beach. heywoods beach is a must to spend a couple of hours. We also took the trip to the market and really enjoyed a stroll round there. Will be back but will be asking for the quietest room they have. See you in the next year or two sugar cane. Read less

It’s a small hotel with a couple of restaurants and a spa. We went all inclusive as the second part of our holiday is self catering so it was nice to be spoilt with all the tasty food. The pool area was quiet and relaxed with some really lovely cocktails. It was nice chatting with the mostly English and American slightly older guests who gave us advice on what times we might see the visiting green monkeys who play and feed on the grounds. We really enjoyed the free glass bottom boat ride, Martin was full of interesting facts about the island. We also used the free shuttle bus to visit Heywoods beach and drive past the now derelict hotel where we got married. The first drop off beach was so beautiful, very chilled, no beach loungers or places to eat just clear blue waters and loads of fish to see when snorkelling. The second beach is near to Speightstown and has shops and loungers etc. The shuttle bus driver is very prompt and friendly. The room was really big with a kitchen and lounge area. The bed was super big and cosy, our room was 301 and we did hear some noise as the staff kitchen was next to us but it never bothered us just put it down incase you might be sensitive to noise. Thank you for looking after to us so well, would love to return soon Read less

Chose this hotel as was one of the cheaper adult only options for a cruise and stay holiday. Location is remote but we did use taxis a couple of times to go to Bridgetown which the hotel arranged, really nice lady on reception who was really helpful unfortunately I didn’t get her name. Room was good, bit tired in places but was like a self contained apartment, pool area small but no issues getting sunbeds anytime of the day. Gardens are beautifully kept. We liked to use the main restaurant, not so keen on Sandys as too many mosquitos. Take bug spray. Did not enjoy the buffet nights, food choices went downhill as the week went on, did not always get the meal ordered as parts were missing and on some occasion completely wrong or unavailable (one night no vegetarian option so I was offered a starter tomato salad as a main even though I had it as a starter) another day as no vegetarian options I asked for the chicken pizza without the chicken but maybe a basic cheese/tomato instead, i got a pizza base coated with mango sauce? then a layer of carrots! but the quality of food was mainly good. Be careful if you have allergies, I was told sandwiches at a afternoon tea were cheese but were actually some sort of coronation chicken , my husband ordered turkey one day and was given pork and my sister was given fish pasta one lunchtime despite her fish allergy being made clear on booking and on arrival. Service could be very slow, but that was ok with us. Our main issue were the drinks, cocktails were never made the same, anything that deviated from a rum drink seemed beyond making. Soft drinks were all flat. Beer was ok. Service at the bars was sporadic, pool bar was often unmanned and you would have to go searching for someone to serve you, not really good enough for a 4 star all inclusive. We had a nice week but likely would not return. Read less
