As with all my reviews I will try and impart useful information as well as the feel of the Hotel. Arrival and check in was swift the receptionist efficiently showed us how to access the WIFI whilst processing our details and taking the Government Tax for the room which worked out at about £109 for the 14 night stay. My credit card was also debited with a $200 authorisation which was refunded at the end of our stay. We were allocated room 316 which is on the 3rd floor reception being on the 5th floor of the building but at road level as the Hotel building cascades down towards the beach. Having been given a rum punch welcome drink security took our cases and showed us the way to our room. A bit of a maize but once we were established you soon found you way around. Our room was a typical Caribbean Hotel room which some reviewers say is outdated I believe this is owing to the dark wooden furniture but in truth the room was comfortable with two double beds a lovely balcony with two chairs and a table and a fixed washing line. To the right as we walked in was a clothes cupboard with plenty of hangers and Iron with board and hairdryer. There is also an electronic safe. the cupboard doors are louvered and there is a light in the cupboard which is very helpful when using the safe. further along on the right hand side is a dressing table and a chest of drawers a standard light and small chair. on the left before the beds is a fridge above which there are tea and coffee facilities with a kettle. The bathroom consisted of what looks like a newly installed walk in shower with sham poo and conditioner dispensers . The bathroom sink has razor a razor point but no close up mirror. soap plus hand soap in a container are also provided Two bath towels and two hand towels which were changed daily were in the room. toilet at one side Moving from the room to the beach there are a lot of steps and when wet they are slippery but there is a hand rail once on the ground floor beach level there are steps over the pool which runs around the ground level which take you to the beach and Drifters Bar. We use to walk around the left hand block to avoid climbing over the pool. Once at Drifters we were able to get a drink bottle or draught beer good quality spirits gin and good rums so no problems. Pool at rear of drifters with a swim up bar Drifters is used on most nights for the buffet but not Saturday when it is taken at Rachels, it is also used for lunch except Sunday when lunch is in Rachels. In general the food is of a good quality there is a reasonable selection. Breakfast which starts at 0730 is also a buffet plus Egg Station and is taken at Rachels Bar which is on the reception level of the hotel. Rachels is an Al La Carte restaurant which is open for dinner Tuesday Wednesdays and Fridays and for the Caribbean buffet on a Saturday Evening. There is also an Asian Restaurant Chop Stix which is open on Thursday and Sunday Evenings. Our favourite meal was the Seafood Buffet served at Rachels on a Sunday lunchtime when Kellie a fantastic singer and saxophonist performs admirably for three hours. You are asked where you want to take your evening meal when you book in for breakfast you are told what restaurant is open and generally for the buffet given a time of your choice from 1830 to 2030 for the Al La Carte and Asian 1830 1930 or 2030 This is my main gripe there are no menus available at breakfast for you to make an informed choice these are apparently displayed on an information board adjacent to the buffet and are invariably incorrect !! That said it didn't spoil our enjoyment. Entertainment is varied Monday night at Drifters there is a show which starts with an Aunt Sally then fire eaters followed by limbo then a Disco the rest of the week is different performers Friday lunchtime there is a beach BBQ where Kellie sings and plays the Saxophone between 1230 and 3pm. plenty of food at this event a cold chest full of beer where you can help yourself to Banks or Guinness and different flavours of Carib. no entertainment on Friday night Beach towels are available and can be collected beach side where you will be able get your sunbeds of which there is no shortage. Now the best thing about this hotel are the staff they are extremely accommodating and efficient this is one thing which is lacking in some hotels in Barbados insufficient staff but here they have enough to ensure you have a great time. I read a recent review which indicated the sun beds were not available after 4pm This is not true they clear away beds when people have gone but will always put a bed out for you never a problem. There is an on site shop selling beach ware and small items. You will see plenty of green Monkeys during your stay they come at various times of day throughout the trees and gardens you will also see Turtles at high tide along with plenty of humming birds. We have travelled to Barbados over a dozen times in the last 20 years and found this hotel to be not only friendly but offers great service to their guests its location is enviable opposite the race course about 1 mile from Bridgetown and about 2٫5 miles to St Lawrence gap. For a sea swim you will need to go along the beach to in front of The Sugar Bay as it is too stony at he Savannah bring those water type slip on beach shoes as where ever you swim there is broken coral. We are returning in September Read less

A bit tatty and run down. Wasn’t allowed a sun bed at 4٫30 as “the beach closes at 6 so easier to sit in a chair in the bar “ as the chap gathered in sun-loungers. In fact this was the attitude of most of the staff. A smile was rare. Having been to 9 Caribbean islands I have to say the restaurant manager should be kept in an office and not… Read more

Who goes to the Caribbean to be fed Sunday roast and stew? Read less

This was our first time to Barbados and mainly due to the fact util recent times all inclusive has been hard to find or ridiculously expensive. The hotel is pleasant and typical in style for the area and the pool areas very attractive (the main pool was in shade most of the afternoon which might suit some however). The rooms are fairly basic but comfortable. Bottled water was in the fridge on arrival but never replenished - it was the little things they need to pay attention to but didn't. The food concerned me as I had seen there wasn't much choice - there wasn't it is true but what there was was delicious and felt very home cooked. The drinks range was good however the bar service in Drifters there were some great bar staff and some very slow bar staff so hit and miss on service down there. The beach is a bit of a let down and I understand this is because storms have taken the sand away so it is what it is and you can swim / snorkel at high tide but at low tide it's just too shallow and rocky. You can climb over a small wall / trudge through a small bit of shallow water to the beach in front of the hotel next door to find a beautiful beach for swimming however. The hotel does offer free transfer to an area on Carlisle Bay (also walkable) which is a huge sandy bay and you have use of sunbeds and albeit very small umbrellas - you get a voucher for drinks but it won't get you more than a couple of drinks at most each. It's and easy walk to Pebbles Bay to see the race horses early morning which is a must. The hotel put on a fab New Years Eve with a gala buffet and entertainment but after new year it felt a bit flat. When dinner was in the upper part of the hotel the beach bar was shut so you couldn't even get a drink to sit down there and there are lots of stairs to the upper levels so if you wanted a drink in your room on the balcony it was a long trek up and numerous flights of stairs! Overall for what we paid it was however more than acceptable and it is a true 4 star - overall very good but attention to detail needed. Top tip is ask questions of the staff as information isn't forthcoming on arrival - the staff do come across as a bit abrupt at times but I think just their culture and way they speak generally Read less

My name is Erica Roach and I held an event called "45 Reflections of Grace Women's Prayer Breakfast". My first contact person was Krystal Clarke but she would have informed me about her other colleague who I would also get if she is not present. Her name was Anna-Lisa Alleyne. This is what I call exemplary service as an event coordinator. Ms. Alleyne exemplifies that name to the fullest. Anna-Lisa was so patient and thorough. She called to check on certain details, reassured me when they was a concern, she kept me up to date, I really didn't have to wonder. Anna-Lisa was always there, right up to the very day and also assisted. She made sure that we kept our side with commitments covered, for e.g I was having my own decorating team and she told us when she need the linen by so that her team could have everything in order before the day. She was ahead of me with respect to parking and I was blown away and her level of efficiency. I had mentioned something to her and she told me she only was working here for a short time. I was taken back at her level of professionalism. When I asked Anna-Lisa to check on something she would get back to me and if she was busy, she would call or message back and apologise and explain the reason for a missed called etc. Before Anna-Lisa left for work on the 10th January, she checked in making sure we were covered with the guards on duty , front desk was informed of our presence. On the actual day Anna Lisa was on duty, because I requested her. She was amazing, she worked along with her staff to get things moving quickly and indeed she did. Breakfast was on time, service was excellent, breakfast was amazing. Kudos to Anna-Lisa Event Coordinator of Savannah Hotel. Anna-Lisa Alleyne is an asset to your organization and not a liability. She is indeed a keeper. God bless her! Read less
