The vacation was fantastic. The location of the hotel was ideal. The beach was unfortunately a bit short for walking, but it was perfectly clean, white and fantastic for swimming. You can walk straight out of the hotel to the left towards the city center, where there are supermarkets and restaurants nearby. We chose the Beachfront Club Level Suite with Balcony Tranquility Soaking Tub room. 4th floor with sea view and bathtub on the balcony. It was the right decision. The room was spacious, clean and the mattress was very good and the air conditioning really adjustable to our needs. The minibar was more like a maxibar with full facilities. We would like to mention Juwon, who made us feel very welcome and always had our favorite white wine in the fridge. The room cleaning was super good, towels and care products were always replaced reliably. And we were on the right side with Sandals Barbados. It was quiet there both on the beach and by the pools. The entertainment was more on the Sandals Royal side. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout. The hotel offers excursions - we booked a best of Barbados sightseeing tour (4 hours) where we were driven all over the island by a driver (just the two of us). He explained a lot and it was really nice. The gastronomy was absolutely unique. It was our first hotel where there was no buffet restaurant in the evening. The 11 restaurants at Sandals Barbados would have been a perfect choice, but as you can also use the 10 restaurants at the sister hotel Royal Barbados, it was really overwhelming. Fish restaurant, steak, Indian, French, Italian, Japanese, a British pub - it was fantastic. And delicious everywhere! We always found an ideal 3-course menu for us. Some of the restaurants are outdoors, others are indoors and air-conditioned. Of these, however, only the “Greenhouse” was actually a little too chilled for our liking. The dress code was wonderful for a vacation. Gentlemen could also go to dinner in shorts (but with closed shoes, which is not a problem). There was no big drama around Christmas or New Year's Eve (and therefore fortunately no dress code again), you could also go out to eat wherever you wanted on these days. Also worth mentioning are the pool bar and the bar in the Royal House of Sandals Barbados. High-quality spirits are used here. And Dwayne and Alicia mixed us really perfect cocktails in a super nice and competent way. No touristy standard mash, but at an international bartender level. Many thanks for that! What was also really great: there is a shelf with beach towels at every pool and on the beach. You can get as many as you need at any time and throw the used ones into the laundry boxes. Changing towels has never been so uncomplicated. The only problem was of course that the sun loungers were occupied from 6 a.m. and people didn't bother to get their towels back, even when it was raining. The bottom line was that we always found a lounger, but this permanent occupation was unpleasant. (And here we have to make a direct comparison with our last vacation in Cuba - there you were obliged to give up your sun lounger as soon as you planned to stay away from the beach or pool for a longer period of time. This meant that there were always plenty of sun loungers available at the pool and beach and you could find one anywhere, even if you got up late at 11 a.m. or 2 p.m.). The pools were always clean and there were various options, including really hot whirlpools. Read less

This was a vacation from hell. I’ve been to sandals resorts previously & always enjoyed myself. This sandals is different. We waited an entire hour to get our shuttle to the hotel which was 15 minutes away. After arriving we waited till almost 3 hours for our room to be ready. The room was ready almost 2 hours after check in time. The room we received was mediocre which I didn’t really care about at first because the resort looked beautiful. We left our stuff at the room and began to explore. The 5 days 4 nights I spent there were horrible. We had roaches all over room and ants in our bathroom. We lived with the bugs and just tried to enjoy ourselves. We didn’t receive one hot meal and the food was very unsanitary. My chicken was rare twice with lots of blood and my sister found fish skin in her Cesar salad. The staff is extremely rude and it’s very hard to get good service. I promise you save your money. I’ve had better experiences for a quarter of the price. Always not safe for LGBTQ. Find me on IG thats_angel_ I’ll tell you everything you need to know. Read less

Some of the staff are a little moody/have an attitude, especially the women who walk around resort and the ones who work in the coffee shops, but most are lovely and friendly. Some make you feel like a massive inconvenience which is a shame. The room was ok. Bed very uncomfortable. Maybe an old mattress? Bedding only changed once in 10 days. Air con was very loud. There was a leak outside our room (5402) on day 6 and it wasn’t fixed by the time we left on day 10. I slipped over in it and hurt my ankle as the corridor was very dark with no lights outside my room in the day (I was at the end of a long corridor and around the corner with no natural light) because there was no warning/wet floor sign. I reported it to concierge but ?? The beach was gorgeous and the sea was wonderful. It did all feel a little cramped. All the sun bed were packed tight. We spent most of our time around the European pool which has sun loungers and cabanas. We met Marlon. He made our holiday extra special. He looked after the European pool area. He was always smiling and helpful and came over each morning to ask how we were. Sweet boy! The food was STUNNING. Not so much the breakfast, it was a little disappointing but Butch’s Grill and Merry Monkey were delightful. Note that you can only visit one of the bookable restaurants once during your visit which was a negative. Read less
