The hotel

Mango Bay is in a great location on a beautiful beach on the west coast. We love it because it's a small, friendly hotel that exudes bajan charm. From outside dining under the stars to traditional English afternoon tea, this hotel is ideal if you are looking for a relaxing getaway. The restaurants, bars and boutiques of fashionable Holetown St. James, along with the Limegrove Lifestyle complex, are just footsteps away - and the complimentary catamaran cruise allows you to explore even more that the island has to offer.

Where is it

On the west coast, in Holetown. Close to the Limegrove Lifestyle shopping centre. 15 minutes to Bridgetown. Transfer time from airport: 40 minutes.

Hotel information

76 air-conditioned rooms on 4 floors in 2 buildings, 1 with lift. Standard Rooms are located in the standard block and situated over 4 floors. All Standard Rooms have a balcony or terrace overlooking the front of the hotel or gardens, bathroom with walk-in shower, cable TV, tea/coffee-making facilities, safe and hairdryer. There is no lift in this block. Rooms have 1 king-size bed or 2 twin beds and sleep maximum 3 adults or 2 adults and 1 child (with rollaway bed). These rooms are at the edge of the property and may experience noise from the local bars and restaurants.

 

All-Inclusive of: full breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner. All drinks, including house wine with meals (exceptions are champagne and specialty wines). Weekly Mango Bay cocktail party. Live entertainment/music at night. Water sports: water-skiing, wakeboarding, Hobie cat sailing, paddle boats, paddle boards, snorkelling and kayaking. Complimentary scuba lesson in swimming pool. One cruise on catamaran, guest per stay. Complimentary WiFi throughout the resort. Use of mini-gym on property. Room service at a charge. Pool and beach service by beach ambassador. Superior Pool/Garden View Rooms are located in the main building on the 1st through 3rd floors, with 1 king-size bed (twin beds available on request), and bathroom with bathtub and shower, sleeping maximum 3 adults or 2 adults and 2 children.

Deluxe Rooms with views of pool and gardens, mini-fridge stocked with soft drinks, with 1 king-size bed, sleeping maximum 3 adults or 2 adults and 2 children.

Ocean Front Rooms are parallel to the beach with views of the ocean, mini-fridge stocked with soft drinks, with 1 king-size bed (twin beds available on request) sleeping maximum 3 adults or 2 adults and 2 children.

Penthouse Suites have panoramic sea views, private patio with plunge pool, indoor double Jacuzzi tub, mini-fridge stocked with soft drinks, with 1 king-size bed, sleeping maximum 3 adults or 2 adults and 2 children aged 13 years or over.

Standard 1-Bedroom Apartments are located in a private block of 10, which is separate from the main accommodation and situated over 2 floors. Each with air-conditioning (in the bedroom only), separate living/dining area and garden views, bedroom with 1 king-size or queen-size bed (twin beds available on request in living room), sleeping maximum 3 adults or 2 adults and 3 children.

Julien's Restaurant, an elegant, non-smoking, beachside restaurant serves an International buffet (two nights per week) and table d'hôte selection (five nights per week). The Bar is open 10:00am-midnight daily. Barbecue night once a week. Snack menu available 10:00am - 4:00pm. Daily afternoon tea.

Please note: reservations are required for lunch and dinner daily.

Live music in the restaurant each night. Weekly cocktail party. A selection of complimentary seasonal activities and programmes are available to kids and teens during Christmas, Easter and the Summer school holidays. Subject to change and rotation, and will run based on minimum numbers.

Dress code: Julians Restaurant (year round), the evening dress code is smart casual which means that gentlemen may wear smart tailored dress shorts and short sleeved shirts (polo shirts are allowed), please note that no sports replica shirts or club branded merchandise are allowed at dinner. Smart jeans are allowed. No flip flops or trainers are allowed in the evening in the restaurant. Cover-ups are required in the restaurant for breakfast and lunch and footwear is required in the restaurant at all times.  

Please note: although the dress code has been relaxed at this hotel, there may still be some occasions at the hotel and on the island where long trousers and shirt sleeves will be more appropriate or compulsory for gentlemen, so it is highly recommended to still pack some.

The lovely Shirene put our mind at ease after I emailed. I really cant believe they are talking about Mango Bay. I am an extremely fussy person (😩) and believe when you are spending your hard earned cash you deserve a certain standard. So please have a look at my thoughts below: Room: We stayed in the 1 bed condo and they had kindly put a double bed in the sitting area which meant we had a bedroom each which was fantastic. It was spotlessly clean. Both beds were absolutely comfy and between the six pillows there were some very comfy ones. Fantastic air conditioning. Thank you to the wonderful room staff who did a fantastic job of keeping it clean. The bathroom is dated but perfectly fine. The 1 bed condos are located to the side of the hotel with garden views. They even have a seperate pool you can use but we stuck to the beach and larger pool. The room maybe not the height of luxury but honestly it was lovely. If you want super luxury, go next door to Sandpiper and pay £15000 !! Staff: On the whole they were absolutely wonderful. Very friendly and attentive. So many fantastic people including CliAnne, Sabrina, Alexenander, Nickoli, Javiere, Karen, Dale, Rayden, Damian (what a bundle of energy and provided wonderful one of a kind drinks beach service ) Nicole and a special thanks to Shirene who took special care of us. So many more staff. Apologies for not remembering all your names. Food: Either set menu which whilst not extensive (this is a good thing I believe) was tasty and something for everyone. A few nights was buffet and again something for everyone. It may not be Haute Cuisine but was more than acceptable. Look out for the coconut shrimp starter which was wonderful.. Breakfast, everything you need. Over the seven days we stayed, the menu/buffet changed every night, never once repeated. Excellent service. Drinks: Not so keen on the cocktails as were a bit sweet but that is a personal view. My daughter loved the strawberry daiquiri. Wonderful local Mount Gay Rum. Lovely chilled white wine and Rose as much as you wanted. Chilled water always available. Entertainment: First class. Something every night which didnt go on until silly o clock. Really wonderful singers and musicians. Loved the gent playing the steel drums early one evening whilst we sat on the beach. There was pool pilates and beach yoga with the wonderful Isobelle. Complimentary catamaran trip and much more. Beach: Beauriful calm, blue sea (unusually there were a few days of rolling waves which is very rare) Great drinks service. The beach lads did a great job of keeping things clean and providing beds and towels etc. Yes, we did tend to go down early to put our towel down but this was only because we had found our ideal spot. Never saw anyone struggle to find a bed. Location: Superb. Right on the beautiful beach and a very short walk into Holetown. This is a smaller hotel with a wonderful ambience, fabulous location, beautiful beach and amazing staff. There may be rooms that need updating but ours was perfectly fine. Thank you to everyone for making it a very special holiday. So the ultimate question....would we return? A resounding yes!! Read less

It felt like the rooms were a throwback to the 70’s. We booked an expensive oceanfront room. What we got was a first floor room looking at stacks of chairs next to the storage shed with drapes covering the patio. There was no view and no privacy! We complained and finally the next day we were moved to a higher floor with a nice balcony and view, but the same crummy state of the room. This hotel needs to be completely gutted! The food, which was all-inclusive was passable at best. Mostly buffets, which was almost never hot. They served very cheap food. We went out to dinner a lot. The reason we picked this hotel was the location. However, that said I would never go back nor would I ever recommend this place to anyone who valued quality. Read less

In need of a refurb and staff training in politeness. Some quite surly. Poor variety of daily menus and quality food poor, and generally cold. Poor choice of drinks at bar and mixers only from pump. Overrated, did not enjoy our stay. A 3 star rating would be kind.
