The hotel

As if this hotel wasn't luxurious enough already, the recent renovations have taken Sandals Royal Bahamian to another level - and they're ready to welcome you back to experience everything new they have to offer. The swim-up suites are the standout room type at this property, allowing you to step right from the comfort of your room straight into a gently flowing river pool with views of the ocean ahead. The Island Village offers privacy and romance and; as with all Sandals properties; the butler service will leave you not having to lift a finger. The real highlight of this Sandals hotel is the private offshore island - just jump on a Love runner and you'll be there in 5 minutes. It's basically a resort in itself, complete with beach club, pool, swim-up bar and spa experiences. Paradise: found and included. When you are feeling a bit more adventurous, there are a host of activities included in your stay so you can work up an appetite. You'll be spoilt for choice when you do get hungry though, with 10 gourmet restaurants and 2 food trucks - you'll have to make sure you stay long enough to ensure you try them all!

East Bay Premium rooms are located on floors 1-6 of the East Bay building with views of the French courtyard.

We didn’t have a horrible stay but we could have had such a better experience. Some staff are amazing others are really not interested! Which really leaves you with mixed emotions! The restaurants feel very rushed as there are so many people waiting, I didn’t feel I could relax at all.

The restaurants where excellent... the steaks at Butch's and La Plume were perfect, the sushi at Soy was the best our group has had and the lunch pizzas at Tesoro were fabulous. The beverages were very good... the ladies at Mr. B's bar (Hope and Edelise) were fabulous hosts, the pool side and evening entertainment was very good. You definitely need to go to the private island, the north side beach is great for swimming and Arellia's was great for lunch. We actually booked our next stay in Barbados (thank you Titi at the Rewards office). We are definitely looking to visit more islands with Sandals in the near future! Read less

We have been to multiple Sandals resorts and this is one of our favorites. We would definitely go again. We really enjoyed the restaurants - especially Gordon's on the Water. The swordfish was fabuous! Our room overlooked the quiet pool and that was great. Our room was great, for what we wanted. However, one of the switches in the bathroom didn't work. On our way out of the building for the day, we saw a maintenance man working down the hall and we mentioned it to him. We did not get his name but he asked our room number and when we went back to the room, the switch was fixed. The gardens behind the main area are really well kept - we are gardners and liked what we saw. When we saw a gardner, we told them what a great job they were doing. We liked that most of the staff was very friendly - offered greetings when you passed. The Playmakers - Static and Giovanni were awesome. Jackie, the hostess at the Canoo Restaurant was awesome and Shrine, the hostess at the Tesoro restaurant, and out on the Island, was awesome. We were there for 10 days and after maybe 2 days, they remembered our names. We also enjoyed "T-Money" (Tevin) at the west party pool. One thing we want to say is we had wanted to book a fishing charter and when we went to Island Adventures, we found the price was very exhorbitant! We ended up booking a fishing trip from town for less....lower the prices, please!! One more thing - we asked our maid for a shower mat to avoid slipping. She said that they are not available. Maybe they are in a "disabled" room but we did not have that. We ended up putting towels down in the shower to avoid slipping, because the shower floor was pretty slippery. All in all, it was a good trip. January is a little dicey on the weather in the Bahama's. It was a bit "chilly" (but better than the 7 degrees at home) and we did not bring any warm clothes! For the nightime entertainment in the Coconut Grove, we just brought the blanket out of our room to stay warm. Read less

We came in mid January to celebrate my birthday. We stayed in East Bay Honeymoon Butler room, on the 6th floor, room 614. We were right under the gym and treadmills but the running sounds weren’t super loud. It turned out ok because the door to the gym was right across the hall so no excuses to not work out on vacation! The gym was nice and incredible views, although they were missing 10 and 12 pound dumbbells. Gym was always clean and stocked. Our room was clean and housekeeping was great. We are balcony people and our balcony was large with comfy chairs and good sized table. We asked our butlers for loungers for it (plenty of room and before reno they had them) but he told us the manager doesn’t allow that. We didn’t have a solid roof (louvers) so in the evenings we took the cushions off the chairs just in case it rained to keep them dry. At that time of year the sun was behind us so it stayed shaded, too, and not hot. The view was beautiful, we could see a beautiful sunrise and a bit of the sunset. Water is gorgeous. View at night of the new chapel was pretty and to the right was a beautiful villa with decorative lights. We did hear bangs from the hallway here and there, not sure if it was the elevator noise or other room doors. But quiet for the most part and we go to bed early and get up usually before sunrise. The resort is beautiful and well kept. Beautiful pools, lots of chairs. Beach not too large but our butler got us shaded loungers in front row every day. We went to the private island our first day and it was very nice, but with our great spot on the main beach we just parked there. Drink service was decent. They consistently raked the beach. Staff were all incredibly friendly, nice, kind and helpful. I was truly impressed, they were all great! Our Butlers were some of the best we have ever had. We had Sterling and Kevinson. Wow! They really took care of us and we could tell that they had read our butler form. Lots of treats, our requests were done, great decorations including cool lights in our room, very efficient, checked on us, communicative, timely responses, great reservations and decorated tables. They made me feel so special for my birthday. I HIGHLY recommend them!! Very kind, proactive, friendly and efficient! Spa was great, friendly helpful staff, my husband got a message that he said was one of the best he has gotten at a Sandals, he also had a shave and a haircut— he also said he was great guy and a great barber. Food was overall good. Great steaks at Gordon’s and Butch’s, as well as La Plume. Kimonos was a great show and funny chef but food was just ok. Italian was delicious, great chicken parm and really good Alfredo. We had gotten caught up in flight cancellations because of winter weather and were delayed a day, Sandals allowed us to extend a day but the downside was we didn’t know if we were moving rooms after packing all up until finally 1030 am we were told could keep the room. But housekeeping, baggage guys and airport transportation weren’t in the loop. However our amazing butlers got it all figured out for us. The water was a bit chilly and it was chilly a few beach days and at night, some windy cooler days but it was still beautiful and we just put in sweat shirts. It is, after all, more north than the rest of the Caribbean so to be expected. We had an amazing stay and although our fave is Montego Bay, I REALLY liked this resort and our beachfront room very much and we will probably rebook here. We had a great 5 nite stay!! Read less
