The hotel

A luxurious, landmark waterfront hotel, Westin ensures your every comfort is met at the Harbour Castle. Beautifully appointed guest rooms with Westin’s signature Heavenly Bed and Bath offer a welcome retreat at the end of a busy day spent sightseeing. There’s also a heated indoor swimming pool in which to wallow and the WESTIN Workout Gym, overlooking the picturesque Toronto Islands — enough to inspire anyone to take to the treadmill! Afterwards, recline in the whirlpool or, if you’ve still energy to spare, perhaps a game of tennis or squash may tempt you. There are plenty of restaurants close by but highly recommended are both the hotel’s eateries. The Mizzen serves exquisite à la carte dishes alongside a very tempting buffet to start your day, and when evening comes around why not try the incredible cuisine of Michelin Star chefs Ernesto & Alfonso at Don Alfonso 1890. If you're looking for something a bit more chilled, retire to the Chartroom Bar and Lounge where you can grab a local brew and a range of dishes, throughout the day.

During my two-night stay, I encountered significant issues that required me to change rooms twice, resulting in a highly disappointing experience. Based on this, I will not be returning to this hotel. Issues, in order of occurrence: 1. Upon checking into the first room, I immediately noticed urine stains on the toilet seat. This indicates the room was not cleaned thoroughly, falling far short of expected cleanliness standards.
 2. When I raised this issue and requested a room change, the front desk associate, Oliver, responded by mentioning he had just returned from a five-day trip to New York and suggested that such oversights "happen all the time." As a loyal Marriott guest with over 400 nights of stays, I find this normalization of substandard service unacceptable and uncharacteristic of the brand. It set a troubling tone for the rest of my experience at this property.
 3. In the new room, I discovered there was no hot water available, forcing me to take a cold shower.
 4. After reporting the issue, maintenance arrived and claimed to have resolved the hot water problem. However, the water temperature remained lukewarm at best, necessitating another room change.
 5. Later, I learned from staff that the hot water issue is a known problem in that section of the building. This raises the question: why assign guests to rooms with unresolved issues, particularly when the problem is well-known?
 6. To compensate for the series of issues I encountered, the front desk promised to send a bottle of wine to my next room. However, this promise was not fulfilled, further underscoring the lack of follow-through and attentiveness.
 7. At breakfast, I found breadcrumbs in a supposedly clean coffee mug. While occasional oversights can happen, this highlights a lack of attention to detail in ensuring the cleanliness of tableware. Guests should not need to point out such issues; proactive quality control should prevent them from occurring.
These incidents reflect a disappointing level of service, cleanliness, and overall management at this property, which is inconsistent with the high standards I have come to expect from Marriott. Read less
Image of the Tripadvisor rating Wonderful hotel in an amazing location

Had a great family vacation at the Westin Harbor Castle over the Christmas period. The rooms were very clean and with wonderful views of the Toronto Islands (especially with fireworks on NYE) The staff are all amazing and everything we had from the room service or bar menus was perfect. A great stay and we will be back!

I had a great view from the 30th floor, breakfast was good and the pool and gym were welcome diversions. Staff were very friendly and my room was clean. I spent an enjoyable couple of nights at the Harbor Castle and look forward to my next visit.
