The hotel

The Cabanas hotel is ideal for the whole family, offering relaxed, informal, comfortable accommodation in a lush lakeside setting. The hotel is so-called because the rooms are arranged in cabana-style blocks. Waterworld is Sun City's lake area where you can partake in various water sports, including water-skiing and for the less adventurous, a gentle cruise is always pleasant. There are many different activities for the children such as the Animal World, Kamp Kwena children's club and an adventure playground. Adults can soak up the sun poolside and enjoy chic cocktails at the Cabanas Pool Deck.

On the 'Waterworld' lake. Transfer time from Johannesburg OR Tambo International Airport: approximately 2 hours.

Hotel information

380 newly refurbished rooms on 2 floors in 7 buildings with no lifts. All with air-conditioning, TV, tea/coffee maker, fridge, safe and hairdryer. Standard Rooms have a shower only (no bath), sleeping maximum 2 adults. Standard Lake Facing Rooms, sleeping maximum 2 adults.

Family Rooms have a double bed and double sleeper sofa, sleeping 2 adults and 2 children.

Ground Lake Floor Family Rooms and Upstairs Lake Family Rooms are available, sleeping 2 adults and 2 children. 

Palm Terrace restaurant (buffet breakfast), Treasure Island snack bar (lunch), Cabanas Pool Bar & Restaurant (light meals).

Swimming pool and kids' pool. Gym* at Gary Player Country Club. Tennis and water-skiing*. Cruises* on lake. 18-hole golf courses*. Valley of Waves water park (there is a flat charge rate of R50.00 non-refundable for Valley of Waves towels to all hotel guests and day visitors). Kamp Kwena (children's activity centre).

Please note: The Valley of Waves will be closed every year for a month between May and July for annual maintenance.

Dump just here to shaft International people out of there money Us South Africans will have to donate to this place Towels are like Plasctic Bathrooms have mould Most of all Pool Closes at 6pm for who because some adults know how tp swim let us sign endemnities. dont waste your time here its a money making scheme.

Had a wonderful weekend all facilities is great, good hospitality including accommodations, breakfast, activities, concierge, reservations, departure, shuttle service, housekeeping, restaurants was up to date and friendly, welcoming will definitely visit again 😊

Hi its been years that i been to Sun City.We stayed at the cabanas ok stay we stayed two nights first night no hand towels or bottle water.I love my tea or coffee there was creamer apparently in cabanas you don't get milk and teaspoons not even plastic ones.Second night our towels were late.The cabana pool restaurant your food was not nice and in one of the beef burgers there was a chicken bone and all you could give us was a free cappuccino.Staff is efficient in check in but they don't advise times of breakfast or check out you must ask.It rained the whole weekend but there's nothing you can do but stay in your room.Buses take longer when its peak time.Breakfast was good at the cabanas restaurant that was a highlight and entertainment at the welcome centre but I wont be going back it's overpriced the hotel,cabanas and the activities not good for our local people.The next highlight is the check out which is at 11.There is a telephone but you could not dial out and note we booked two rooms where we were placed was at the end of the cabanas the last rooms so we had to use our cel for towels also note with the rain you should at least offer guest with an umbrella even if you hire it out would be a good suggestion.Please note my parents stayed at the hotel there room was untidy when they check in and note they paid double and it was a luxury room but not up to standard No photos as it rained 😕. Definitely value for money! The buses every 15mins were perfect and punctual. There are lots of activities for non-gamblers, we enjoyed the Valley of the waves and the Arcade. It was a perfect summer long weekend away close to Johannesburg.
