The hotel

Cape Town has plenty to offer when it comes to sightseeing, and The Commodore is perfectly placed for you to enjoy the V&A waterfront, Table Mountain, and Robben Island with ease. Upgrade to an Executive room to make the most of the views from your balcony on the top floor, or even to a King Suite if you want the extra space for your stay. The nautical theme runs throughout the hotel, from your room right through to the bar and restaurant, where you can enjoy fresh seafood and local wines. As you’re in the heart of the harbour, you don’t have to go far to find more restaurants and bars either, where you can while away sunny evenings in the oldest working harbour in South Africa.

Great location and views, lovely staff. The waterfront area bustles with activity, you can eat somewhere different every night and not be disappointed and this is a great base.

The Commodore Hotel is in the perfect location to visit The Waterfront. The staff were really friendly and helpful and made our stay very special. Our room was light and airy and catered to our needs. We will stay again.

Great location, has everything you need. Efficient staff. Gym could do with having antibacterial wipes available to wipe down equipment after use.

Lovely hotel within a 5 min walk of the shops, bars & restaurants of the V&A. Rooms were spotless and the breakfast was plentiful but what really makes this hotel stand out are the staff. They were without exception, incredibly friendly, helpful & proactive. They are a credit to the legacy hotel group. Two minor issues for me personally, were the bathroom shower, which seems impossible to maintain a consistent temperature, and the noisy in-room air conditioning unit. I took the opportunity to check with my family who had the same category room as me and they had the same problems, hence I think it may be a hotel wide issue. However, I think the pros for this hotel outweigh the cons. Read less

Good rooms. Lovely staff-Sakhe, Tatum, Aneeqa, Alem all helpful. Only problem was a hygiene issue in the breakfast room. My wife had scrambled eggs 3 days ago. They were poured from a flask of pre cracked eggs. The lady doing the cooking used a spatula to cook chicken, wiped the spatula on her apron, then proceeded to cook my wife's eggs. My wife… Read more
My wife observed to me that the eggs tasted strange and stopped eating them. 6 hours later my wife had severe vomiting followed by spectacular diarrhoea. This lasted for 2 days. Very dangerous for her as she is on several heart medications. Spoke to manager and he appeared very sorry. We were offered a free late check out and a couple of drinks were knocked off our bill. Poor recompense for 2 of us losing 2 days of our holiday. I note today the kitchen was undergoing an inspection. Read less
