Image of the Tripadvisor rating Quiet Boxing Day

This was the first stop in our tour of South Africa and was a good choice if unremarkable. Situated a decent walk from the V&A the rooms are clean and spacious. The staff were friendly and helpful. Despite it being Boxing Day the place lacked a bit of atmosphere and the dining room was very empty in the evening - perhaps because the food was a bit… Read more

Image of the Tripadvisor rating This is a glorified Pontins or at best Cruise Ship!!

First feel as you step out the lift in this Hotel is you are on a cruise ship with 900 other people. It was a hard act to follow 10days of boutique hotels but to sink £5000 into 5 nights I would expect better than a bathroom you genuinely can only fit one person at a time. It was a hard act to follow 10days of boutique hotels but to sink £5000 into 5 nights I would expect better than a bathroom you genuinely can only fit one person at a time. A sea view...... of a car park and sun loungers our dog would find uncomfortable. The pool area is a joke, people throw down their towels (that barely cover the back leaving your feet melting on the sweaty nylon mesh) before breakfast then come back to claim beds 4hours later then the staff wonderful why they have an issue! You will also bump in to half of North London! Service for food & drinks is dire. Breakfast probably a highlight but if you have any OCD about hundreds of people touching everything before you then get in at 7am, it's all buffet style. This is over priced and there are alternatives and not even mentioned how uncomfortable the beds are or fact out the 3 rooms we had none of the air con worked (22deg at 2am when set to min!), left window open in end and just got bitten to death and woken at 5am by the light! Image of the Tripadvisor rating A lot going for it but let down in a couple of areas

I am still staying in the hotel, 7 days into my 11 day trip. Overall I would say the hotel is well run, the staff are friendly and attentive, always trying to assist where possible, and the facilities on the whole are good. The kids activities are a nice touch too, the menus are good (breakfast could be better) and our room (Ocean Suite) was great for us. Parking facilities are also excellent. I would say that we had persistent air conditioning issues throughout our stay which was quite frustrating especially with two very small children, making most nights uncomfortably hot. To the staff’s credit they have been trying to help but it is still not great for a hotel of this calibre to have inadequate air conditioning in the peak of summer. My only other negative, although quite a bit one I guess would be the pool area. Whilst the kids pool and main pool are great, and it is lovely having the kids play area and bar on the opposite sides, the seating area on the patio is unbelievably overcrowded and squashy. It gets to a point by about 10.30/11am that the pool is swamped with people, chaotic and to be honest I don’t like to sit closer to people by the pool than I do on the aeroplane. It’s just crowded and ultimately quite uncomfortable and when it’s the place you spend most of your holiday it’s letting the whole hotel experience down and would seriously make me consider my options next time. Overall I’d say this experience is a solid 3٫5/5 but have given four. As I said it has a lot going for it but falls in a couple of pretty major areas. Sort those out and it’s a no brainer for where to stay. Read less

Then they asked us to check out and recheck back in again, we refused. Very painful - my room card stopped working 4 times, meaning 4 trips back to reception - the toilet seat broke 3 times, and led to half a day without a toilet seat Won’t stay again Read less

The hotel is in a great location. There are shops within a walking distance. The sea front is at the end of the road and there are other beaches nearby. Personally I didn't find the reception particularly responsive or receptive. I had to ask several times for basis things to get sorted, which eventually they did. Personally I didn't find the reception particularly responsive or receptive. I had to ask several times for basis things to get sorted, which eventually they did. The staff are great and made the stay enjoyable and memorable. This is not a four star hotel, in my opinion. There are some nice things about it (mainly the staff) but the rest was pretty average. Rooms are a decent size but the bathrooms are too small. Two restaurants, the food was ok. We had breakfast included and there was a good range in the buffet menu although the menus didn't change in the two weeks we were there. Read less
